Camera Capades

Well, we got Puff all settled in at the dorm. And only 3 trips to Walmart. Well, yesterday. Today I have a new list of things that must be found and mailed. Such is life. But I talked to her this morning and things seem to be going well.

I don't have any pictures to show you.

I don't have pictures because I can never remember that my new camera (Christmas gift from The Brain) needs a charger and not new batteries every now and then. Not only did I forget to charge the camera, I forgot the charger as well. So I realize that not having a camera was my own fault. I get it.

The very first picture I try to take, the camera dies right there before I get a chance. It was a great picture, too. Puff standing in front of the official college sign - lots of old looking buildings in the background. And as I go to frame this picture in the viewfinder, I look up at the building directly behind her and engraved in the stone over the doorway, it says "NORMAL SCHOOL". I kid you not! I have no idea what it means, but I wanted that picture!

So I let out this sort of wail -
Agggghhhh!! DEAD CAMERA!!
And The Brain graciously gets out of the vehicle to find his camera in all his several bags of gear. (No doubt HE had all his chargers with him.) He finds his camera, and instead of handing it to me, walks over to the place where I was standing and snaps a picture. OK. So then we have to start playing the "Did you get the shot?" game.
Did you see the sign in the background? Can you get a closer one of just the sign? What about this sign, I need a shot of this college sign here.
And he is just patiently snapping away. Which is very, very nice of him. But for the next 24 hours, we played "Did you get the shot?" instead of me just getting the shot. Because apparently, I'm not to be trusted with the camera. (And I'm not slamming him for that. I mean, where was MY camera? His point exactly.)

And then he made the mistake. He set the camera down. In plain sight. And can I be trusted not to pick up the camera?

Well, no.
I actually took 2 pictures. Then I carefully turned it off and set it back in the exact same place.

But I swear, he has some kind of electronic radar. Which I'm pretty sure is why he took it to work with him today, thus leaving me with no pics to download.

Which brings us back to where we started this little discussion. If I ever do get the pictures, you'll be the first to know.

I'm pretty stingy with my camera too. But if yours will do this, I have a suggestion. Does it have a battery pack that comes out? Mine does, it's just not "buy-in-the-store-batteries". I ordered a second battery pack and keep the charged second battery with the camera. Then if the one dies, I have the backup. Even if it's been awhile since I charged, it was after the one in the camera so it should have SOME charge.

A Normal School is what they used to call teaching colleges. I don't know why, but that's what it is.

I'm the exact same way... I never remember my camera and when I do it's never charged.

At least your husband has a backup...

Don't feel bad "my Brain" would do the same thing your Brain did. My Grandpa would say "it's the principle of the matter" Maybe it's a man thing.
