Sliiide to the Left! Sliiide to the Right!

I do a lot of running. I'm not saying I'm good at it, just that I'm insane enough to keep at it. My marathon is October 6th, and I'm really looking forward to it. Which is a nicer way of saying I'm getting quite burned out. I've been running between 7 and 9 hours a week for the past month or so. (and can you believe I am actually gaining weight? what the heck? ...but that's a different blog post.)

Now, I have great running partners, but I only actually run with them about 3 days a week, which means for 3 other days a week, I'm left to my own devices to entertain myself during the run.

And here's where I'll admit to going off the deep end. I have begun singing along with my Mp3 player while I run. Out loud.
But it doesn't stop there. I also have been making hand motions (NOT THOSE KIND) while I run. Like - who can listen to Simply Irresistible and not do a little air drumming? You HAVE to, right?

And during the Space Jam song? When the lyrics say "raise your hands in the air if you feel fine" well, I do. And that is a long song with lots of repeats, people. Lots of hands in the air and lots of jump shots. (Hoop! There it is!)

So the next time you see a runner and it looks like they're playing the air drums, or shooting jump shots, or maybe even doing the Electric Slide while they run, cut them some slack. It's probably not a seizure or anything. They may just be training for a marathon.

I'm not training for a marathon, and I STILL do that! Validation happening here. Although I'm not sure how validating it really is when I do it after running three blocks and you're making your way across town.

That's awesome! I love that you are doing all the actions! It means you're burning more calories :D

I don't know whether I want to have a nap or go running after reading that.

I know, I'll turn up the music and dance!

hi randi:
i had so much fun including you (about this) in my blog shout out to you thursday night. you are really a breath of fresh air. i love how you just are not afraid to be yourself and be relaxed and free no matter who is watching. i love not caring what others think. i think if people don't like you for just who you are, well then you don't need that kind of person in your life anyway and you are better off without them :)

you are an example to me, too.

your friend,
kathleen :)

Funny. Now I have something to think about during the runs!
