How Many Times....?

This morning, The Brain took some milk out of the fridge and set it on the counter, where the lid immediately popped off, and the milk sloshed a little out of the container.

He sighed, and said:
I'm always surprised when you don't put the lids all the way back on things.

My response: Why?

Him (laughing): I should have stopped being surprised by that a long time ago, shouldn't I?

Me: Right you are.

I mean, I could apologize ... again... but 24 years, and you're still surprised by that? C'mon.

The only way our marriage has survived is his sense of humor. Also the fact that I must have other redeeming qualities.

FIRST! NEENER NEENER!

Put the lid all the way back on! Now! My husband does that and it drives me bonkers. I really should get some more of that sense-of-humor thing. My husband would probably love me more if I just laughed rather than nagged. Oh well. He married me - that's what he gets. :-P

Everyone needs a good sense of humor--especially when you have teenagers. So many problems could be alleviated if we didn't take ourselves so seriously.

Thanks for the reminder.

We have a relationship that has lasted only by laughing. Sometimes its been fake, but its worked.

hooray for the brain - give him 50 blogger points.

Maybe you should try Jer's technique for putting the milk lid on. Placing it on the top and slamming your fist down on it. It's not tight, but it's on... I guess.

Ha ha!!! It's true, there are things that your spouse is gonna do that you just have to get used to! If we didn't all we would do is argue about it!!!

Hee hee...we have moments like that often, and it's only been seven years so far. Silly boys.

Why don't you put the lids on? Sheesh, you're a special kind of lazy. LOL.

After seeing so many marriages break up over lids,it's nice to see one where you work through the tough times. ;)

I should laugh more,I can be a pretty ornery wife.

Lady, if you lived in my house, we'd be having some fights. Just put the lid on for goodness sakes! Your husband is much nicer than me. :)

Ahhh marriage with give and take. (and laughter) I am so impressed. Sometimes it is hard to get perspective about those kind of little things.

Because seriously does it really matter? Kids on drugs, ailing parents, financial issues, pressure at work, callings, carpools and more.... Who cares about the dang toothpaste, milk or toilet seat! Get over it! IT DOESN"T MATTER UNLESS YOU MAKE IT MATTER!

Uhhhh maybe that is a little intense of an answer for such a lighthearted post...... (but someone had to say it! :))

I'm so lucky that most around me have great senses of humor; otherwise, I might have been beaten to death years ago!

Your 1000 other qualities allow for you to leave the lid off the milk. That's my two cents

I was confused at first, because I thought the brain was - you know, your brain. And you were having a conversation with yourself. Or something.

(But I figured it out after a while. I'm quick like that.)

I am convinced that a sense of humor is the key to a long happy marriage. Now if I could just laugh about hubby NOT putting the T.P. back on the roll...AGAIN.

Haha! That is so great. I too don't put tops on things all of the way. ESPECIALLY the peanut butter jar. Funny thing is, everytime I go to it (every morning) it is screwed on right. I must make someone really angry haha!

I ALWAYS put lids on all nice and snug...but I never mop the floor! Hubby does it when he gets sick of looking at it, haha! ;)

I just noticed Lauren's comment...yeah, I'm the one who fixes the peanut butter jar lid every stinkin' day! ;)
