Traveling Again

This weekend The Brain and I were doing some business traveling. Or as I like to call it: Touring Bathrooms Across America.

It was fun, especially the parts where we got upgraded to first class because The Brain has so many frequent flier miles. Yea!

One of the things I love most about traveling is just getting to see the differences in culture. Even across just a couple of states, the differences are stark. I mean, you don't find biscuits and gravy on too many breakfast menus where I live. But here's a little gem from a tiny restaurant in a tiny airport in Arizona. ( I named it the Cholesterol Cafe.)

I guess if I were ordering the 1 biscuit and gravy I'd want the second one. (And does it strike anyone else that the only "vegetables" on the menu are peppers and green chilies?)

I love traveling. I really do.

Note to Los Angeles: Your weather and beaches are fantastic. Your airport bathrooms, however, very sub-par.

Is there anything worse than a disgusting airport bathroom? Because I can't think of many.

Wow I haven't been to LAX in while. I'll avoid the bathrooms next time.

Wait... you came to LA?? I'm only 2 hours from there... the next time you happen to be over this way, let me know :)
As for LAX, it is a life long goal of mine to never EVER step foot in that place. Just the thought of it makes me panic...

I'm so jealous you get to travel! I'm not jealous that you get to try out lots of different bathrooms...

My hubby will be flying into LAX on Friday. I'll have him check the bathrooms. :)

When it comes to airports in general, I think we're pretty spoiled here in Denver. That is, until you get stuck here for a couple of days because of a blizzard.

Personally, I think "biscuit and gravy" sounds a lot tastier than "biscuit & gravy" - I might even go as far to call it "TASTERIFFIC!"

It all depends on how the "&" is prepared. In the south, they really pride themselves in how they cook "&" - it's some of the best "&" I've ever tasted. In a place like Arizona, the "&" is far more likely be a Tex-Mex version. "And," on the other hand, is pretty difficult to mess up. I think it's pretty commendable for a restaurant to offer both "&" and "and" - all on the same menu. It'd be interesting to see what gets ordered more.

At least that's what the voices in my head tell me.

I got upgraded to first class once. It was heavenly. By the end of the flight I felt all snotty and rich, and glad to be away from the riff raff in coach. Then I thumped back to reality ;>

Love the sign, tee hee

I miss biscuits and gravy. It was such a popular breakfast item where I grew up that they even had it at McDonalds...*sigh*

I think I'd starve with that menu.

Thanks for the free advertising!

The first "biscuit and gravy" is part of the order above it..I'm just sayin' is all. ;)

Now I'm hungry.

Stacey,

OOOOOOOHHHH! I get it!

You're menu-reading prowess is impressive. It's a good thing I wasn't there. I would have made some glib comment and made a fool of myself.

Not that that would have been anything terribly noteworthy.

Biscuit and gravy = $5.25
Biscuit & gravy = $3

That "and" is pretty pricey ;)

Biscuits and gravy are so yummy for breakfast. It is definitely a southern thing.

I really enjoyed reading your blog.

I'm at the LA airport right now--I agree totally with the bathroom comment. Hey, I can't believe you were here at the airport last week--I think I would have recognized you ; )
