Still Here

Barely.

I've sat down to write several different posts about working full time, and they all seem to come out the way I feel. Whiny. So I decided not to publish them.

For now, I'll just say that I've had a good look from a different point of view, and I've learned a lot. Mainly that there is no way a woman can do everything all at the same time. I can not be the kind of wife and mom I want to be, AND work full time. Maybe you can. But I can't.

I've got a lot of posts swirling around in my head, but they will all have to wait a few more days for school to get out and for things to balance out again.

In the meantime I'm missing all of you. I'm also missing my cheerful happy self, who always had dinner ready at 6pm, and never left a dish out of place.

Oh, wait, I might have dreamed that last part.

So... are you finished working this year?

Keep going! Your almost done! You can do it! (is that enough cheering?) It is always nice to have a reminder of what you love the most in life- your family.

I feel for you. Balance sure can be hard to find. Good luck and hang in there!

I bet you are doing a great job. I don't think I could do work full time and be the mom I want to be either.

Come back soon, because you have been missed! Smooches!

I can't wait to read the stories that you'll post when you're done. I know they will be great.

I think you are doing a great job holding it together.

I'm missing you too!!

I really don't think that women can have their cake and eat it too. Those that think they can are fooling themselves; something usually suffers. I admire you for acknowledging that and for choosing what you need to do.

Anyways, can't wait for the stories!

I'm not sure if I could work full time either... you'll be done soon, yes?!

I went back full-time recently, and let me tell you...I do not believe that we women can "have it all." Working is a nice reprieve from the home...people actually converse with you and you get paid to be there, and (hopefully) someone has to tell you (at least once a year) how well you are doing and how you can constructively improve your performance.

However, homelife suffers in some form or another. I feel very disconnected with my kids and their lives...and they're still in grade school!!

We hope that this is temporary...but until then, work sure gets in the way of my real life.

And that's a fact.
HEY! Have a good weekend OK, we'll be here whenever you get back :)

I hear ya! I work just two days a week, but that is all I can take. For what it's worth, if it is temporary, lower some standards on stuff that really isn't eternally important (dishes). Tell yourself you can stand it, that you are standing it.

You know, I've heard that a woman CAN do it all..............just not all at the same time.

Keep Beanee Weenee Casserole in the freezer and equip your house with automatic pressure washers that'll go off and cleanse your house whenever the filth triggers the system.

There. Problem solved. :)

Personally, I HATE working. Sadly, my family has become accustomed to the luxurious lifestyle of 3 meals a day and clothes from the Wal-Mart clearance rack. I can't quit my job and let them fall from their lofty social stature.

I've often wondered how I would do everything if I worked outside the home. Thanks for the insight.

my pleasant self has been MIA for quite some time now. I'm a little anxious to get her back too.

I certainly can't do it all but I'm sure trying. It's a daily battle.

I'm just hanging on till the end of May...oh wait, that's tomorrow! Whew...another week and I'd be laying myself down on the road by that armadillo!

I imagine the subbing will be done soon. I read through a couple older posts and you are funny! I hope you went with the swat gear for subbing though!

I am in the same boat. YW pres., substitute teacher, wife and mom. I was thinking how nice it would be to have some time off but I just had a teacher ask me to sub the whole week next week. I said yes. I must be insane. (I felt bad...she's going to a funeral. It's in Hawaii...so really I don't feel too bad for her) Isn't school out yet?

I'm sorry you have to work...I'm mainly shocked by the "never a dish out of place." I bet you miss that. Maybe someday I'll experience it!
