Day 3 Of My Captivity

I thought I was going to die this afternoon. Things that should be easy little annoyances are insurmountable life tragedies today.

I dropped my phone in a bucket of paint last week, and it still isn't quite right.

It's 92 degrees and I'm too cheap to run the air conditioner.

I've been to the grocery store 3 times today. For 1 item each time.

I've also cried 3 different times. (But not about or at the grocery store. Just in case you were wondering.)

It's possible that giving up caffeine, artificial sweeteners, sugar, and white flour all on the same day was not the most level headed idea I've ever had. But you know me and moderation. It happens about as often as my kids clean their bedrooms without being asked. In other words, about every single time h*ll freezes over. But as you can see, we've got h*ll burning away here today in the Mile High City, with no chance of moderation in the forecast.

That whole dying prediction from this afternoon? I guess it was just wishful thinking.

I don't sound crabby, do I? (You'd better say no. I don't think I can handle a yes.)

I don't think you're crabby. I DO however think you're crazy. How could you ever even WANT to give up caffeine AND sugar?!? Those two things are my best friends.

I do however wish you good luck.

And I hope I didn't make you cry.

Forget the caffeine, how can you stand not having the air on?????!!!! It's been 104 here and I'm ready to DIE.

Good luck. And for the record I wouldln't have last 2 hrs giving all that stuff up. ;)

Baby steps, Baby steps.

Save the flour and sugar for later.

Take a deep breath... now, slowly exhale... you can do this! You are amazing!! But, may I make one suggestion? TURN THE AIR ON!!! :) Heat+lack of carbs= insanity
I'm just sayin...

First off, walk to the thermostat, and turn.it.on.

Second, in three more days, you'll feel fabulous.

Third, if it's really bad, take an Excedrin migraine. They have caffeine and will curb the yucky feeling.

Fourth, TURN. ON. THE. A/C.

xoxoxo

I went to the grocery store 3 times the other day for one item and forgot the actual item I went in for twice. But I came out with a whole bunch of stuff I didn't need.

Good luck with the rest.

Keep going, I know you will start feeling better! Remember what an amazing thing you are doing, wrap yourself with the accomplishment and move forward! "Grandma was right you can do hard things!" remember ; ) Oh, and let's not be insane, turn on the A/C, you are saving money from all those Diet Cokes you are not drinking, you can afford it!

Um...yeah...

Turn on the A/C. Yeah...that'd be better. Yeah.

In case you haven't tried them yet, Crystal Light makes really good sugar free teas and lemonades that you can pour into water bottles and shake up for a yummy, guilt-free treat.

And fruit. Eat lots of fruit.

No sugar, coke or a/c? Do you want me come over and kick you? I mean honestly, turn the air on so you only have two things torturing you...you have obviously lost you rational mind from the withdrawals..poor girl..This is the time to crank the a/c way down!! Duh!!

I know, way harsh, but there it is.
I hope we can still be friends:)

Ok so I just found your blog through my cousins blog and have to say it is quite funny! I am about to embark on the giving up of white stuff to eat as well and I quit drinking my diet pepsi the headache lasted for about three days. I don't know how I will get through this but will be checking your blog for encouragement! I plan on starting just after the 4th of July (you know I have to prepare for these things LOL)
Anyways just wanted to say hi!

No, I don't think you sound crabby at all.
Of course, I would never tell a crabby person that they are crabby, because that would just cause more crabbiness, not to say that you are crabby, I'm just speaking of crabby people in general, NOT you, because as I have already pointed out, you are most definitely NOT sounding crabby.

I'm impressed that you have lasted so long with the giving up of things.
I didn't have any Dr. Pepper for one whole day last week, so now I know that I can do it. I also fell asleep at 8:00.
I think you might be trying a little too much by giving up both sugar and caffeine at the same time. Maybe get used to life without one of them before you eliminate the other.

Oh yeah, TURN ON THE AC!

Elizabeth-W said...

TURN ON THE AC, WOMAN!!
That alone would make me beyond crabby. I gave up the Dr Pepper almost a year ago. You CAN do it.

Jenn said...

Turn on the AC it will help with the feeling of uter out of controlness from giving up all the stuff that we love but is not good for us. You can do. If I did it anyone can do it. Good luck!!!!

Can you eat fruit because that helps a ton!!

Marilyn said...

I'm voting for turning on the A/C. We live in H*LL and AC is a MUST. At least you can be cool while you suffer the withdrawals....

Lynell said...

Hmm. I've actually been thinking about starting a caffeine habbit. I've been a little short on energy lately. But I guess if this is what withdrawls are like I will stick to lemon-aide. Ü

We've been lucky here in Chi-town(land) since our temps have been in the 70s 80s but no way am I turning on the AC unless it's 150 degrees! Okay maybe 100 since I do have fish I'd like to see live until at least next year.

Sorry, not sure why you've given up caffeine, is it for a good cause? Because me and my coffee? We are together until death do us part! ;o)

oh good lord you poor thing I had to give up caffeine a few months ago--there ain't no way they'll get sugar away from me though.

Yvonne said...

Turn the air conditioning on!!!!

You'll adjust to life without caffeine and artificial sweeteners, sugar, and white flour, but air conditioning is another story ; )

Nancy Face said...

At least you didn't drop YOURSELF in a bucket of paint.

Nancy Face said...

I live where Marilyn lives. She knows what she's talking about! :0

Nancy Face said...

Ten years ago I was too cheap to crank up the AC.

Now I'm old and smart...and I'm worth it, baby! ;)

Kimberly Vanderhorst said...

Eat some fruit, babe. Cutting out the sugar cold turkey seriously messes with you..believe me.

Busy Bee Lauren said...

Turn on the AC and eat a brownie. I would.

Busy Bee Lauren said...

I feel sad for you...

Read some Eclipse and dream about Jacob and all his wolfy-ness...

Vern said...

No air conditioning????!!! If I was a terrorist and the government captured me and tried to make me talk, that's all they would have to do - put me in a room with no A/C.

Oh Randi, I have so been there lately myself. I'm not a sniffly person at all but sometimes you just have to have a good cry.

You and I should get together and work for a Fish Store. We can make money filling up the aquariums with our salt water tears.
