You Are Getting Veeerrrry Sleepy

I'm actually giving up caffeine.

I KNOW!

Through a series of events, I feel a little like Alma the Younger being shown the error of my ways. Except that I didn't go into a coma for 3 days or whatever. And there was no angel talking to me. Oh, and I'm pretty sure my dad wasn't praying for me to quit.

But other than that...JUST like Alma.

My brain is foggy, I have no energy, and my head is pounding. (So I said to myself - Hey! Perfect time to write a blog post.)

And just so you know, I'm also giving up sugar, white flour, and starting out my blog posts with the word "So". But only for the next 2 weeks. After that, everything's back on. Well, except maybe the caffiene. Can't forget Alma, can we?

(It's very possible that I was wrong about the coma thing. This post took way too long to write.)

Farewell, Diet Coke! How I'll miss you!

I've gotta go find that Diet Coke and Zingers lady. I heard she gave up the Diet Coke too, and I've been wondering how it's been going for her.

Hooray for Alma, and you of course. Caffeine makes me feel yucky too.

Did you get your lucky numbers before deleting that last comment?! I've never had a comment like that yet.

Poor you.

I haven't had any caffeine today either.

Poor me.

However, the day is not over.

Ok Good luck is what I have to say first. Next I have been there and know how hard it is. I gave it up in April and now only miss it when having Mexican food or talking about it. I alos gave up sugar and all grains for two weeks all I could eat was meat (but no pork or beef) and fruit and vegies. It was hard the first week the second week I felt wonderful so good in fact I did it for a third week. I so should have kept it up because I felt so good. Why do we give up so easy on the things that make us feel good? Something for me to think about as I go have a cookie!!

Good luck-actually eating more fruits and veggies will take away the sugar craving--it really does! (boring but true)

Your post sounds a bit like the mumblings of a mad woman "I guess I picked the wrong week to give up caffeine" but earnestly, good job, you'll never regret it.

Wow! What a positive step in the right direction! Hard, but do-able. I'm impressed. If it helps, I've noticed lately that Diet Coke tastes a lot like floor cleaner smells. Don't know why. But maybe it'll help with the cravings.

We are through! Kaput. No more... You, my Diet Coke partner, in crime. Our cross country "I hardly know yee" blogging relationship is done.

Dang girl. What are you thinking? Well, with the exception that you will be healthier, live longer and have stronger bones?

It was sweet while it lasted.

Oooh. I'm proud of you! I gave up Dr. Pepper during YW Camp and got hooked on Sonic Cherry Limeades the week after. I'm drinking one now in fact.

Giving up the caffeine (and soda pop in general) was one of the best things I ever did. My legs used to be swollen and painful almost every night, and that quit happening once I threw the cola monkey off my back.

If you haven't already, start carrying around a nice big jug of chilled or ice water to keep yourself hydrated through the day. You'll soon find that nothing satisfies thirst like plain old water.

I've got a friend who probably takes in more Coca-Cola than he does oxygen during a day, and he's tried several times to wean himself with no success. Fortunately, I imbibed moderately (just one 12 - 16 ounce glass every afternoon, lots of ice), so it wasn't hard for me to give it up.

Good luck--you can do it!

I went to a Women's Conference where Merilee Boyack spoke and she talked about choosing the right. She talked about her Seminary class and how they broke into groups one day and had lists of activities or things that could fall into "black" or "white" catagories. They got to drinking caffeine and decided that it was more of a "gray" area. And she asked them, "What do we know about gray?" The class just kind of stared at her and then she said... "It's not white." ;) Good for you for making this choice!

I gave up Pepsi a little less than a month ago. Let me tell ya, it wasnt easy! And let my tell ya again, it STILL isnt easy. I think about it almost every day! Its pathetic, completely pathetic. I never thought of it as an "Alma the Younger" event, but I too most assuredly had family members praying that I would give it up. Im determined to stick to my guns, but it ain't going to be a walk in the park!! Hang tough!!

Oh. My. Gosh. The world is off kilter. ;-)

I gave up DC a while back and switched to Pepsi only. Now I do a Pepsi a few times a month, because let's be honest, there's no way I could give the stuff up completely.

Best of luck!

My mom keeps falling off the Diet Coke wagon, too. I'm not much of a soda drinker but I have plenty of other vices to make up for it.

I'm going to form a cheerleading squad just for you to cheer you on whenever the Diet Coke devil rears its ugly head and whispers in your ear...

Good luck! This is my vice, too -- anything carbonated and caffeinated, but I am not "addicted" - yet.

Thanks for your comment on my blog. Now I have to figure out how in the world you found it.

I love your blog!
