I don't know if you'll find this as amusing as we did, but in light of my post yesterday, and Mimi's comment on that post - which was true AND hilarious- I thought you might enjoy knowing that while making breakfast this morning at 5:45 I burned the toast.
The smoke alarms started before the bread was even warm, I'm telling you!
No one even batted an eye.
(That's either really scary, or really funny. I have no idea what to do about it. I guess I could take out the kitchen smoke alarm... )

guess you need to work on fire drills, since you seem to get a lot of practice.
Was the toast burned on one side or two? I knew a toaster that made toast black as pitch on one side and nary a singe on the other.
...and they were awake at 5:45a.m.? Mine would have slept through it . . . and mine would be burnt by hubby, cuz I wouldn't be up at 5:45 a.m. either - haha
All I can really focus on is that you make toast at 5:45am...
are ya nuts? :)
I feel so less alone! (Except make that 7:45am)
A new toaster might be a good idea too...craziness!
Hmmm, I guess early morning seminary isn't a familiar thing out there? Anyhow, my kids don't even blink an eye when the smoke alarms go off either - our kitchen one is so sensitive it starts up if the burner is too hot! (And every time I make garlic bread - gotta watch that better!) Guess that's a good thing, but, like your house, I don't know if anyone would take it seriously if there were a real emergency!
Did your mom not teach you the broom trick? OH- and you are one of those really toasted toast people! Me, I just put it in for a second, just to say I did it!
ROF I have to agree, you can have a lot of pracitce fire drills!!!! Thats too early to make toast, stick to cereal
Yeah, I did something similar the other day--instead of making the kids get their own breakfast (usually toast), I made muffins. Something burnt in the oven set off the smoke alarms. Since they're all wired together, THEY ALL WENT OFF and the entire house woke up. Oops. Sorry.
Still laughing from the last post...now Im laughing even more... :)
It's scary AND funny! ;)
Our family does the same thing ~ except our 4 kids (10, 8, 6 and 2) spring into action...one grabs the large cookie sheet and starts waving it at the detector, another runs and opens the sliding glass door, and the other 2 run to my side to see what I've "cooked" for dinner.
In our last house the detector would go off if I took the lid off a boiling pot of water...we solved that problem by moving it across the kitchen...it was just too sensitive to be that close to the stove.
Have you seen/heard of the detectors that record a parents' voice?? Supposedly kids actually respond better to the sound of their parent's voice than they do to the beep-beep of an alarm. You should trade yours out without telling your kids!! ;)
You just crack me up!!!
Don't get rid of the smoke alarm!!!
I'm so glad I'm not the only one whose alarm goes off when I burn toast in the toaster. It drives me crazy!! Ours are all connected too and it freaks the little ones out.
