At Least I Hope I Got Him Something Good!

The Brain: Hey I stopped by Home Depot today on the way home to pick up those drawer slides you asked for. While I was there I saw something I've really been wanting, and it's on a killer sale.

Me: ... (wondering where this is going)...

The Brain: So I bought it.

Me: ...(blank look)...

The Brain: For you to give me for Christmas.

Me: ... Oh...

The Brain: I hid it in the garage so you don't have to worry about it.

Me: You want to tell me what it is?

The Brain: Nah. . . I want it to be a surprise.

This is great. You DO deserve a break from all of those years of figuring out what to get everyone, don't you? And everyone loves a surprise on Christmas morning.

Hmmmm....sounds like our Christmas Pajama tradition. CM bought mine the first year. Since then I buy both of ours and this year one for the baby.

Good thing I wrap them up and everything...just so we can all be surprised.

Home Depot...hmmm. Power tools? Storm doors? It will be an exciting Christmas!

I have seen you all over the place, so I wanted to stop by and say hi!

At least one of you will be surprised.

We used to know a guy who would buy himself something, and have it gift wrapped. When he got home, he would have his family gather around to watch him open his present.

I think you should go out and buy yourself something really nice for him to give to you.
It's only fair.

ROFL, that made me laugh out loud! And it's the first blog post I've ever read to my husband out loud, too. ;)

Hope you enjoy the surprise your husband bought for himself! :)

At least he's letting you give it to him for Christmas rather than buying what he wants right before the holiday season. Right? :)

That is so thoughtful! One less gift to buy! :P

Hey, we got up at 4:30 this morning and went "Black Friday" shopping with Kristi, I bought MY Christmas present while we were out. Vickie doesn't even bother anymore.......

I wonder what he bought himself! He sounds like my husband who bought himself a guitar last week and declared it was his christmas present. He did not even wait-we are enjoying it now:)

I think it's great! For years I have bought my own presents--it would be lovely if he bought his own and saved me the agony, er, the trouble of figuring out what he wants, etc. Yay for you!

Neil's done that exact same thing before! Refused to tell me so that at least one of us would be surprised. Silly boys.

My hubby's grandparents used to give their grandkids money in November, and the grandkids were expected to buy their own gift, wrap it, and put it under the grandparents' tree to open on Christmas Eve so the grandparents could see what they got everyone. They didn't have to shop or giftwrap.

That is the best way to shop! We've been doing that for years - I buy what I want and he buys what he wants. Sometimes he'll show me something online that I could get for him so I say "That's great, why don't you just go ahead and order it :>)" He's happy, I'm happy and I have 18 other people to buy for.......Let this be a reminder to young moms who are producing many, many children - when they grow up they get married and you are blessed with all those beautiful grandchildren who need fun things for Christmas! It's great fun but easier when your spouse helps with his own shopping! Way to go Brain!!

Ha! I love it! Hmmmm, I might just suggest that for my hubby to do cuz after all, the gift we got him last year still sits in the garage unused. Grrr....

Oh goodness I'd love that.

BTW, I think jillybean has the PERFECT idea.

I'm sure it is an amazing gift... after all you are a killer wife!

LOL yayyy! I do love your sense of humor! That one really did make me lol, by the way

So... did you dig it out of the garage??? Maybe he really got something for you, but he's covering his tracks by saying it's for him...

Janell said...

Leeme guess, Home Depot has a 30 day return policy so even if you don't like what he got for himself you don't get any say in the matter ;)

Tricia said...

hmm. I wonder what you got him.

Whitney said...

Ha ha ha ha. Well, at least he can't get angry if he changes his mind and doesn't like it? You might have to do some snooping in the garage. That's funny that he doesn't want you to see his present!

That totally works for me! And how sweet that he wanted it to be a surprise for you to him!

I love it. My mom usually picks out her own gifts. It's easier that way.

Rachie said...

Yes, one doesn't want to ruin the surprise! I can't wait to find out what it is...

Nancy Face said...

That's pretty much how Kris Face and I shop for each other...and we always love every one of our gifts! ;)

Chell said...

Nice!

I never tell my husband what I buy for the kids. Then on Christmas morning, it's twice as exciting for him, because he loves to see the kids' excitement.

I'm such a good wife!
