Do you Twitter?

So it's a rumble.

VS

Do you do either? I'm getting the hang of Facebook. but I've also started to really dislike all the games and surveys and quizzes. For the record, I really couldn't care less which Disney princess is most like you.

I started Twittering yesterday. It's fun-ish, the biggest upside being that I don't have to read much about Disney princesses. Plus, I can tell you what Senator McCain and Bill O'Reilly are doing pretty much at any given time.

Here's the way I see it:

Facebook: My kids and most of their friends use it - which is why I got on there in the first place. Also I've actually started accumulating a friend list of my own, which is more fun than I originally thought. There's definitely more traffic - as in people that I actually know - through facebook.

Twitter: There are no annoying quizzes and what not. It's just status updates, which is really my favorite part of the facebook thing, anyway. On the other hand, there's really no room for substance, even if you want it. It's all basically one-liners. But it's much faster to process.

Thoughts? Opinions? Am I missing something? Because I really don't have time for both.

OK, I really don't have time for either... but I'm going to chose ONE.

I'm with you on all the quizzes and random junk in facebook...I just 'ignore all' and call it a day. I don't really get twitter. I have a twitter account, I have posted a few times, but overall it seems really - I don't know the right word. Overrated? Random? Fad? I'd go with facebook.

I just joined twitter myself and I can't see the big deal unless you're following news.

I'm on all three, and I hate Twitter. I did it for about a day.

And I check my FB page about once a week.

I just think it's too much stimulation! I don't need another online social medium to consume my time.

I'm a big fan of twitter. not so much with facebook. I like that with twitter I can follow my close friends and have their updates come to my phone. Others I can just check up on whenever I want to online. I LOVE that I can stalk my congressman. I know where he is all the time. Plus....my twitters post to the sidebar on my blog...so it's kind-of like a microblog in that respect. Anyway...just my two cents.

I don't even know how to twitter. I assume you have to have texting capabilities, which I don't do yet. I do FB. Not as much as blogging. For me blogging takes the cake.

I'm just thinking about Twitt- but how many ways do I need to stay in touch with people? Honestly!

I'm with you. I pretty much like Facebook just for the status updates. I would do twitter instead, but almost all of my friends are on facebook and hardly any of them are on twitter. So I do facebook. And try to ignore all those disney princess things.

I joined FB, too, mainly to see if I could find a couple of friends from HS that I hadn't heard from in many years. (I found one of them!) The surveys and quizzes! Just ignore them.

To me, Twitter to me just doesn't have enough interaction, from what I've heard.

And just so you know, I still love your Comment Policy. The only reason I took it off my sidebar was cuz I thought I should have one of my own, and not be a glorified plagerizer. But I still like yours better.
:~D

I have yet to try twitter although my fave part of FB is the status updates.

I'm Belle,in case you were curious. ;)

ok, so heres the deal. I have face book, but don't do the annoying quizzes. i just use it to see my friends updates and pictures and promote the blog.

twitter, is for my blogging friends. They say something clever, then i say something back and it's like we are actually talking. its fun.

i do both. because why not? i just don't do the myspace thing. NEVER EVER EVER.

I've kind of sorted out Facebook to connect with my old friends (mostly because everyone in my high school class started popping up right and left). I've been using Twitter to put out blog posts and get more info on news, blogs, and internet stuff which my old friends could care less about.
So I like to use both--and there is an ap that will post updates on both at the same time, which helps.

Melissa said...

For me? The updates are fun, but I play word games with friends on Facebook. Also, I can send notes to friends that are more than a line or two long.
I've never been on Twitter though... I'll probably just stick with Facebook... but that's just me :)

I just don't get the whole Twitter thing...but maybe that's cuz I haven't tried it yet?

I got on FB because an old friend invited me and I didn't have the heart to say no. And then I found an older friend that I had lost track of, so I decided to keep it. I'm sick of the quizzes though, and it seems that a couple of my cousins are on FB ALL DAY LONG. I think I may just look at FB once a week to keep tabs, but really...

Twitter, well, no thanks, haven't tried it. Pretty sure I don't care to either.

Caroline C. Bingham said...

Duh, BOTH. Did you add the twitter FB app? And yes, FB has too much stuff but that's solved by hitting "ignore all"

Caroline C. Bingham said...

Oh, and for those saying there's not enough interation on twitter.

THAT'S THE BEAUTY OF IT! You don't have to respond, you can be as involved or not as you want. Some days you can twitter up a storm, then you can ignore it. It's great!

Heidi said...

I don't Twitter so I don't know but with Facebook you can ignore all the features you don't like. No big. I really like it.

Heidi said...

I don't Twitter, either. But I happily ignore quizzes and games galore. Let me know how Twitter goes . . .

Laura said...

Oh, go facebook if you're going to choose. It's more versatile. And frankly, aren't you just DYING to know which sexy lady you are? Or how many kids you're going to have? (Which btw, I'm going to have 8 and I'm Marilyn Monroe...which is great since I had 4 kids and sent hubs to the doc!) LOL!

Yvonne said...

I haven't tried Twitter--and I'm not sure I really want to try something else. I got on Facebook for the same reason and have had a fun time hooking up with old friends.

You already know I am a naysayer and a traitor.

Dumb FB.

Dave said...

hey justrandi did you know you can subscribe to a rss feed of your friend's updates?

as far as i can tell that is kind of like twitter, so fb does it for me.

The Wiz said...

I loved facebook until the new layout. Now all the quizzes are IN YOUR FACE!

Still haven't tried Twitter, though. Probably won't.

LisAway said...

I love the idea of twitter, and I really only care about status updates on facebook, too. And connecting with people from my past. I think I'd like twitter.

Roxie said...

My brother who only calls with the most random questions will play word games on Facebook with me. And my boyfriend's mom just added me as a friend on Facebook too (that must mean the relationship is getting serious). I like seeing all the pictures of everyone too.

But I do have a few rules. My friends list is called a "Friend List" for a reason. It's for friends, not acquaintances. And I ignore any and all applications I'm not interested in.

But I AM Cinderella... which I thought was an odd answer for me, but whatever.
I've never used Twitter, so I'm gonna vote FB.

I have all I can do just to keep up with Blogging....never mind do Twitter and Facebook and whatever else is out there.

Busy Bee Lauren said...

Pick Facebook. I kinda hate twitter...but I have it to keep people updated on my twilight blog. I found it easier to manage status updates and all that crap. But I hate it. Too fast paced.

goddessdivine said...

I don't do either. Although the thought of stalking Bill O'Reilly and possibly my Congressmen is a little intriguing.....

Between blogging, emailing, and fulfilling my political junkie needs, I don't think I'd have time for anything else.

Annette Lyon said...

I'm already online doing way too much--I can't see how I'd add Twitter to the mix.

But I agree about the FB quizzes and the like. If one more person pokes me or sends a green patch request, I'll be tempted to throw a hammer at the screen.

Jillybean said...

I'm not on Facebook and I don't twitter.
I suppose I'm just about the most un-cool person here.
I just can't justify more time online while I have that never ending sink full of dirty dishes, piles of laundry, and kids who need prodding to do their homework.

On the other hand, perhaps I do need another distraction................

I'm a little late in answering, but I do have both facebook and twitter. I'm on Twitter more than facebook. I had to give it some time before I really liked it. Now I pretty much love it. I don't have to say anything that often, but if I have a question or want to share a link, it's so simple. And I catch people's posts that way a lot and like to know what they're up to, even if they just share what's for lunch. Now I'm going to go find you on twitter...

Alison Wonderland said...

I facebook and I don't twit (although there are those who would argue that I am a twit. But that's neither here nor there.) I'm not really a fan of all the quizes and li'l green patches but I like the groups (I have one with my sisters that I check daily, minimum) and the flair. You can't quit facebook, where would you get your friday flair?

Yvonne said...

Is this why there was no friday flair--you're either facebooking or twittering????

I don't facebook and do not understand Twitter! I just don't get it! DUH!

I'm coming over from Mormon Mommy Blogs, asking for your help. I am in the running for a round trip airfare paid ticket to Connecticut, to meet a friend I became acquainted with through blogging. She is a super fun person and is holding this contest. I entered a funny story titled "Grapejuice Floaties, Now Marry Me." The person whose story receives the most votes will win a trip to meet this generous lady, whom I'm hoping to meet. The voting ends tonight-midnight. I used to be ahead but there is a story coming up from behind out of nowhere, and it's a tight race now. I would so much appreciate your help. Her blog is www.becausemomsaidso.blogspot.com and the voting is on the sidebar on the right. "Grapejuice, Floaties" Just go there and cast a vote for me, please. Thanks so much-you're awesome! ♥♥

I do the Facebook thing because it's the only contact I have with some of my extended family.

Sad, yes?

I haven't tried twitter, but I am on facebook. I love the status updates, pictures, and the occasional link, but the quizzes, group requests, and application requests drive me insane! That doesn't stop me from spending way too much time on it.

I'm a new reader by the way, love what I've read so far!

I reactivated my Facebook account...freeky!

I don't twitter but I do Face book & I agree with you on the cutesy quizzes, I just like the pics & the status pretty much. Very addicting!

joanna said...

I keep hearing about Twitter but I'm hesitant to even go to the website. Facebook is enough for me. I hate most of those quizzes you mentioned. Some of it's fun. I like finding people from elementary school!

Momza said...

Okay, I just recently (this week) joined twitter. Bahh! Waste of time.
You can read about that on my blog...http://momza.blogspot.com
..I think it was Monday's post.
You're not missing anything on Twitter.
