Hot or Hott?

One summer day a few years ago we were over at some friends' house, sitting on their back deck chatting about the heat, when their 7 year old daughter came out. Apparently, she had been inside getting vocabulary lessons from her teenage sisters, because she couldn't wait to come outside and announce;
"I"m hot... in TWO ways!"
and then turn around and walk back in while we tried unsuccessfully to control our fits of laughter.

The brain and I have kept it as an inside joke.

See, some people think that maybe, I might possibly tend to get somewhat irritable when I get over heated.

So when The Brain tells me that I'm hot... in TWO ways... well, it's not just a compliment, it's also a commentary on the fact that possibly, it might be time to go stick my feet in some ice water.

And it's funny every time.

Seriously, how many men do you know that can tell their wives they are sexy and cranky in the same sentence and get away with it?

I am one lucky wife.

That's too funny! Although, I don't know what I'd do if my little girl came out and announced she was "hott" :)

I agree with Yvonne... the Brain is very brave!

Isn't it funny what kids will say?

And, yeah, it's hot!

That's quite a compliment. It's nice to have some comic relief in those tense moments.

That's better than being two different kids of fat/phat:)

When Max was three, he told me I was cold.

I decided to assume that he meant "cool"

I can't help but hear an old cheer in the deep recesses of my brain! haha

That is cute and glad it lightens the moments!

I need to be elevated from "creepy staulker to a new friend", so I thought I'd comment! ;-) Don't kids say the greatest things! Love your "hot in TWO ways" story. I've grabbed your button and put it on my blog mystorymoments.blogspot.com It's a really cute button. You are on my list to read daily. Would you take a second and look at a new blog I just started? www.reallyincrediblewomen.blogspot.com

It just launched today, and I'm really interested to see what people think. If you like what you see, please let people know - I've got a button on the sidebar if you'd like it.

Thanks again for your blog. It's great!

I like being called phat.

now that it is no longer an inside joke, perhaps lots of people will be telling you that you are hot, and you'll have to guess which one they mean

Could there possibly be a better way to handle that? I mean really, that's perfect! 'I love you honey, by the way, you're a bit crabby right now' just isn't the same as "you're hot... in TWO ways."

Ha!

Sounds like something my husband would say. When I'm broiling and sweating and not enjoying global warming and I complain, "I'm too hot!" my hubby says, "Yes, you are." It's a nice sentiment, but at those moments I'd really rather here, "Let me get you a ice-cold ---";)

I love it. I just LOL and woke my sleeping baby.

The ultimate compliment - I forgot to keep quiet!

Heat is dumb. I hardly ever leave the house when it's hot. Okay, I hardly ever leave the house anyway, but ESPECIALLY when it's hot.

I get cranky when it's hot, too. (Eighty degrees is hot, right?)

I love inside jokes.

This post is validation that you and I were, in fact, separated at birth.
