I Really Really Wanted to Like This Book

All I wanted to know, was how the heck have women started being able to lose enough weight to be the Biggest Loser? If you're a fan of the show, you already know that it has been long thought that only men can win, because of their body mass, and men's ability to lose weight differently. So it's really BIG news for 3 women in a row to have won. And especially Helen - who is a couple of years older than I- how did she do it? And I was willing to pay $14.19 at Costco to find out.

(...Anyone who wants to send me $14.19 + shipping can have this book, and you too can find out the big secret.) ( Which I am about to tell you anyway, so don't bother.)

Here's what I've extrapolated from the book:

Evidentally, living on The Ranch is more important than you might have guessed. Unlimited food budget, continuous doctor consults, and a very controlled environment appear to be the keys to success in this book/lifestyle/program.

I wanted to like this book, and mostly, I really really wanted it to give me some answers.
Yeah, no.

Unless the answers you were looking for are:
  1. rid your life of plastics
  2. only eat organic
  3. throw out all your medications
you may not like this book, either.

But hey, maybe these ARE the answers you were looking for. If so, like I said before, just mail me the $14.19 and I will send you your book of dreams immediately.

It's not like I'm going to be using it.

I hate books that totally lead you on, thinking you are going to good some great NEW piece of advice only to be totally bombarded with the same stuff.

Costco has a great return policy... I'm just sayin.

It appears that is also the answer for how I can get pregnant, according to the PCOS diet book... Now back to reality.

I would rather be overweight than have a life like that...

I'm not on any medications. Plastic is my friend. And I believe that organic food is highly overrated. Guess this book won't work for me...

Yeah. That's why no one who goes home from the Biggest Loser can never lose as much weight as those who stay.

Wait--she was saying there was some big hormonal difference in how women need to approach weight loss.

That's IT? Seriously?

Why do I want to hit someone?

Seriously speaking as one who has battled her weight and with food all of my life....the real key is you just have to decide, that you are going to change your lifestyle forever. Sure you can have a dinner out and an occasional treat, but you can't have them all the time or every day.

There is my secret to weight loss, and it was free to all...because I like Randi and her blog peeps that much. :)

Well, really-who doesn't have an unlimited food budget and constant doctor supervision. I mean, if we really wanted to do it, we fully could. Not.

Looks like you might be stuck with the book! :) Maybe a Goodwill tax donation write off?

I love the show, but I have bought a couple of the books and have not been impressed. Thanks for saving me $16.33 (Canadian)

I'm so glad that I didn't spend the money on that book! Thanks for spending it for me. ;-)

If you ever find a book, or anything else, that tells you how to lose weight, and keep it off, without doing any wacky stuff, let me know.
Please.

I wonder how the contestants fare after the show. Do they follow them and do a '6 months later......' Kinda like the dating ones where the couples have split up; the contestants probably gain some/most of that weight back.

Wait a minute. I bought the book, "How to Become a Millionaire by Conning People Into Buying Your Book" and those were the same answers!

Weird.

Um, the medication thing is throwing me for a loop. Like, just what kinds of pills is she talking about? Do you even know how much FATTER/CRAZIER I'd be if I didn't take my meds?

Kimberly Vanderhorst said...

Oi, not terribly useful. Talk about impractical and in the case of the medications potentially hazardous!

Well that sounds like a waste of $14.19...and very disappointing news. I would love to master my metabolism. Darn it.

OH MAN that is truly annoying.
We "Real" women might need some real help!

Yeah, I bought a Jillian Michael's work-out/game for the Wii. We were very whelmed by it. Don't bother. :)

Wow! The enlightenment I've been looking for! For FREE! Thank you SO much, Randi.

Not the book, but the show, the biggest things I got out of it were:
get a BodyBugg
get a personal trainer
go to the gym or workout everyday
yeah, everyday
burn more calories than you eat

I've lost 80 lbs since Thanksgiving.

I've always felt that if I was rich, I'd be a size 2 since I would be able to spend as much money on healthy food, personal trainers, and such as I want!

The only reason I even watch Biggest Loser anymore is in the hope that something--or someone--really heavy will fall on Jillian.

As many times as it takes.

Don't like Jillian and the show's drama drives me nuts. I heard the winner from the first season gained every bit of it back, and then some. Not surprising since they lost the weight in an artificial environment, they can't keep it off in the real world. Who'd want to go through that torture a second time? Not me. Thanks for the headsup.
