How The Kid Survived To Adulthood, I Have No Idea

Buddy walked in to the kitchen yeserday at lunchtime, popped something in the microwave, and casually asked,
"How long would you say McDonalds' food lasts?"

I was distracted and gave a sort of - "depends on what it is"- answer.   Until it kicked into my brain that the microwave was going, and a hungry 23 year guy  - who had not been to McDonalds in recent memory - was asking me about old food.

Specifically, as it turns out, a McChicken sandwich that had been in his bedroom since last Saturday.

And when I told him that Yeah, I kind of think that's too long, and filled him in on some of the dangers of mayonnaise, he dejectedly took his sandwich out of the microwave and dropped it in the trashcan.

But I have a sneaking suspicion that if I hadn't been standing right there, he would have chanced it.

he probably would've survived it, too. with no side effects. 23 yr old man stomachs are surprisingly resilient! i think it's evolutionary :)

wow, i wouldn't have eaten it even if it had been in the fridge, and I have a cast iron stomach.

He is brave.

bravo on figuring out the question behind the question

:-)

It was such a guy thing to do. My husband would have done that and he's 54 years old.

I kind of like not knowing what my kids are eating--one of the blessings of having them all out of the house. (Thanks for helping me see the positive ; )

That's one of the few things Allan and I don't agree on--how long you can keep food before you throw it away. I have to admit I don't think he would have even eaten it--even if he saved it in the fridge that long.

Ew! An old McChicken is bad enough...but the thought of heated up mayonaisse?! EW!

Did he pull it out of the trash after you were away?

LOL If it had been in the fridge, I would have totally eaten it. But not out of the fridge. My son left a doggy bag in the garage for two days, then didn't understand why I threw it away. There was a whole hamburger from Red Robin in it! He was devastated!

I have a sneaking suspicion that he survived because HE wasn't in charge of his well being! Be more scared when he's really off on his own! =)

Well you also have to take into account that is McDonald's food in the first place. That shortens the life span dramatically.

Oh for the love of Chrysler! That is a classic!

I thought Mcdonalds food was petrified

agreed, chef

i was gonna say that the amount of preservatives in mcd's food actually makes it a better candidate for extended longevity consumption

Ok, the fact that it's a McChicken sandwich from McD's makes it dangerous enough. To have eaten it 4 days later is just plain suicidal. That kid is alive today because of you.

I dunno, it probably would have been ok, what with all the super sneaky McPreservatives they put in there.

Earl, that brings back memories of cleaning out from under the car seats when the kids were little.

Ahhh, good times...

I dunno, enough time in the microwave and it would probably be OK... ;)

Oh yes, he would have eaten it, I have a couple guys like that too! It's scarey sometimes!
Of course my 78 yr old Mom heats up some pretty questionable stuff too!

My blog today made me think of you and your buddy. Let me just say, you've given me hope that my boys will survive to adulthood as well. Thanks!

This just made me chuckle - I could totally picture that. When boys get hungry they'll eat just about anything!

SICKNAST!

Lauren tells me that she has to throw away old food when Ted isn't home, because otherwise he'll totally eat it.
