Things I Learned Over Thanksgiving - Most of Which Have Nothing To Do With the Actual Holiday

When playing Pictionary, it is never worth what it costs to slam another team for cheating.  Just let it GO, even if there's NO WAY that team could have guessed the word "monkey" from a poorly drawn bunch of bananas that looks exactly like a witch's claw.  And if you do slam the team, be prepared to feel bad about it the rest of the game.

Werewolves. Are. Awesome.   It was even better the second time through. Pretty sure I could see it again, no problem. And again.  (I'll stop now, because my daughters are so incredibly embarrassed that I liked this movie so much)  ...ok, just one more AGAIN.

**************************

Running with my sisters along the Colorado River at sunrise is all kinds of amazing.  Even at 21 degrees.

**************************

No matter how much I practice before I get there, the kids will still kick my butt in Rock Band.  Pretty much all of them, including the 6 year old.

**************************

Apparently I am the exact wrong height to buy jeans.  If I buy the short length, they shrink in the wash, and then they look like high-water pants when I wear them with boots.  If I buy the regular length, they just drag on the ground no matter how many times I wash them.   Yes I've heard of a sewing machine.  But I'm not asking for the perfect length...  Just anything within a 2 inch window, for pete's sake!

**************************

Everyone in Missouri wants to be driving on I-70 in Colorado pretty much all the time.  I noticed this last summer, too.   And you know I love you for it, right Missouri?   But you've gotta learn to stay out of the left lane!

**************************

Either my arms bruise easily, or I'm just a wimp. No matter how much I tried to keep the rifle in the "pocket" of my shoulder, I came out with bruised arms after skeet shooting.  I hit about 40% of what I shot at, though, which I thought was pretty good until I learned how everyone else did.
I think we'd better not count on my skilz if it comes to feeding the fam.  Let's just call it a good reason to beef up the food storage.

**************************

It is possible to come away from a bonfire NOT smelling like you've just been on a 5 day camp-out.  But not if you want to actually be WARM.

**************************

My immediate family started out with 7 people, and has now grown to 35, and it still amazes me that I like every single one of them. I'm so thankful for the family I have, and the fun we have when we're together!

Oh, and one more thing -
The 40 million people who serve green bean casserole on Thanksgiving can, in fact, be wrong. Very wrong indeed.

Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving! I completely understand about the left lane...it's for me! :)

My hubby likes the green bean casserole, but I can take it or leave it. I prefer veggies NOT smothered in mushroom soup, but maybe that's just me. Oops...totally accidental swiping of your blog title...sorry!

Have a lovely week!

I will never serve green bean casserole on any day...let alone Thanksgiving!

Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday. Hooray for family---but not hooray for cheaters.

So, I'm thinking werewolves are ok, too. I mean, hello six-pack and biceps! But I'm still an Edward loyalist. Even though his bare chest was a pathetic comparison to Jacob's.....

I pretty much agree with all of these and they made me laugh too. Especially the Missouri drivers in the wrong lane - Hee hee.
Also, we gave up the green bean casserole for Asparagus in butter and garlic - Yum!!

I'm impressed that you hit 40%... I have the same problem with jeans.

I have issues with jeans too. Except I am 5'9" so I can't find them long enough to wear heels with!

Missouri? I thought it was ALL California drivers who stay in the left lane on I-70. Mandy produced a new and better green bean casserole this year - no nasty mushroom soup.
And you really are blessed to like everyone in your 35 people family. I love everyone in my little family of 21 but my parents family....eh, not so much anymore (I'm talking my siblings, not the departed aunts and uncles) So count yourself lucky! So glad you had a funderful time!

You saw it again?? So jealous! I really want to see it again.

I have to buy short jeans..luckily longer style shirts are in style as I need short jeans but long shirts

I hear you on the jeans issues. I'm way short and even petite jeans are too long on me sometimes.

I saw NM 4 times...and Jacob is nom. The End.

Glad you had a great Thanksgiving!

Green bean casserole = Ew.

I am with you on the jean thing. If I buy the regular length, they end up as floods after being washed. If I buy the long length they drag on the floor, unless I wear heels.

Jacob's abs were the highlight of NM for me.

I love New Moon!

I love bonfires!

I hate green bean casserole, and made sure no one brought it to our Thanksgiving dinner!

There was NO green bean casserole at my house either. I would probably yell at cheaters too, by the way.

Jeans that drag on the floor are hot.

I hate Missouri drivers too. Apparently, passing is for losers, and the correct speed to drive has no relation to the speed limit.

Dave said...

And, maybe the witch REALLY likes monkeys, and their teammates knew that???

We did get monkeys from the claw with the bunch of bananas, and actual cheating is stacking the teams from the beginning of the game, and YOU WON. What exactly did you want. (Nothing to see here, just a little family fun.) What a great trip. Thanks to the youngest bro for putting it all together.

Awww Dave, I love Missouri drivers. In fact, I love them even more because they want to be in Colorado.
I just want them to understand that in Colorado it's ILLEGAL to drive in the left lane unless you're passing.
:) But they probably won't, and then we'll just love the revenue when they pay their tickets.

And Mom- Yep I feel all the worse because we won. I wish I'd had my own advice last week.

I see on my google reader that you had another post. It is now vanished. You can't tease me like that.

Unless it's one of those times when you tried to post a youtube video thing and you're eventually going to have fifteen identical posts in about a week.

If it's that, I'm sorry.

What a fun post--love it.

We played Pictionary Man--it was fun. Some are just great guessers ; )

I love the smell of campfires.

We had broccoli casserole--it was delicious.

I have the same problem with jeans! Hate that.

I hate green bean casserole.

I have the same problem with jeans, and I'm 5'7" (my problems are with regulars shrinking, and talls dragging.)

I still haven't seen New Moon, which totally shocks me.

I love the smell of bonfires. AT the bonfire.

And I love family, too.

Funny, Missouri drivers complain about colorado drivers driving through Missouri. Something about being too pushy.

Randi said...

naaaa, we're not pushy. We just want people to get out of our way!

;)

if i had someone barreling toward me, i'd WANT to get out of the way!!
