The R list

You know how Oprah has the "O" list? Well, this is the "R" list. Because me and Oprah - we're like this! Well we used to be tight, right before she went on the road on her little campaign trip. I hate when celebrities do that. But I digress.

I just thought I'd share a few things I've discovered that make my life a little better. Just in time to make your life easier for the holidays!

The Shot Glass

NO it's not what you're thinking! Actually, this little measuring cup is my current favorite cooking tool. It measures liquid in tsps and tbls (pronounced tsps and tibbles at our house). I love it so much I have two.

Have you seen these salad kits in your Costco or Sams?
( my apologies for the bad picture . But if you click on it, you can see it better in ginormou-size.)

Here both stores carry variations of this fantastic idea. I can't tell you how much I adore these packages. There are 4-5 kinds that my Costco sort of rotates through, but basically they're all different themed salads, and you just mix the ingredients together when you're ready to eat it. Our family favorite is the taco salad, but a close second is the French Greens. If I'm serving it as a side, I get 6 pretty good sized salads out of a package.
But my favorite trick is to divide it in 4ths, top it with grilled chicken breast, and serve it as a main course. The best thing? Every single person in my family really likes them.

For about $5 you can get a really great salad that will actually feed 4-6 people. And about $5 is what I would pay for a great salad (for 1) at Wendy's or McDonalds - so it's pretty easy for me to justify.

YUM!

If you can find this Holiday tea by Celestial Seasonings, you will be in heaven!
Brew it up, and put in one packet of Splenda and about 2 tsps of creamer powder per cup and OH MY GOODNESS that tastes like Christmas.

And here's a secret. One teabag will make a whole pot of the herb tea, so it goes 4 times as far. And just ask my kids... they love it when they go to pour some hot water out of the teapot into their hot chocolate powder and it's a nice little gingerbread tea surprise. They love that.

(It's possible this is a regional product, but I just checked, and you can order it online. )

And now your holidays can be complete. I know. You were just waiting for this.
You're welcome.

Ok, where do you get the shot glass measuring thing? I can never keep a set of measuring spoons more than a few months before they fall apart and are all lost.

I got my shot glass at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, but I'm pretty sure I've seen them at Walmart.
And I'd be happy to email anyone's husband with the info.

Just a little December service I provide here on the blog. ;)

If I cooked, perhaps those things would come in handy. Anything for not-so-domesticated type? ;-)
