How You Know

( Insert music here - Amy Adams singing "That's How You Know")

People say that you can tell who someone really is by looking at their bookshelves.

Anyone looking at my bookshelf would actually probably have a pretty good idea about what I like. Here's the bookshelf closest to my bed.

You can click to enlarge it if you want, but basically there are some books that remind me who I am, some books about women that I admire (real and fictional), and part of my collection of picture books.

* confession* There was also some dust, which probably tells you more about me than I'd like you to know, so I um, moved it.

("---That's how you know! That's how you know! ---" I can't get that song with its marimba accompaniment out of my head now.)

Except my theory is that you can tell way more about someone these days by looking through their dvr'd shows.
Right now my DVR is full with:

  • CSI - all 3 versions (the only thing The Brain requested)
  • Glenn Beck (of course!)
  • Biggest Loser (cheering for Brittany!)
  • The Closer
  • The Office ( which I refuse to delete until there are new episodes)
  • A River Runs Through It (Which I didn't really understand when it first came out, so I was hoping to take another shot at it.)
  • Bourne Identity (Somehow I never make it to the end before I fall asleep! Oh, but I will. One day I will. )
  • Survivorman ( I love that this guy carries all his own video equipment, and is really alone out there.)
I'm not exactly sure what statement this makes. Except possibly that I spend entirely too much time thinking about TV.

I WISH we had DVR...we have to rely on On-Demand and the CBS network to put our favorite shows on their...and we LOVE Netflix for "discovering" old series that are new to us.

OLIVIA is our family's favorite children's series. They make us laugh and laugh and LAUGH!

I want DVR! I want to save my shows and watch them after the kids are in bed..you know when I can actually sit and enjoy myself without breaking up twenty fights.

I miss DVR. But getting rid of it cut out a bunch of shows I used to watch just cuz they sounded good.

I want DVR, I usually miss my shows (American Idol, etc.) coz hubby would rather watch something else. But I do make him watch One Tree Hill with me, that's my only requirement of him when it comes to the TV.
I wish the Office would get their new episodes out just a little bit faster....

DVR is the bomb and your list looks very much like mine. I could totally hang and watch TV with you.

P.S. Looking at your bookshelf made me realize that I've never read Anne of Green Gabels.

I keep renting Medium from Blockbuster because we have an antenna that doesn't allow us to pick up NBC. I'm paying for something I can watch for free. It irks me. But what can I do?

Books? I read blogs, now. My recent book conquests are limited but Glenn Beck's is right on top of the pile!

I see no dust.
Between our two DVRs we have way too many hours of TV watching.
The one is my room has the least: The Office, The Soup, 2 Millionare Mathmaker, 2 New Amsterdam, American Idol, a cooking show, 2Celebrity Apprentice and 3 movies.

My kids love Survivorman :)

LOL at the dust comment ; ) I LOVE The Hiding Place.

We watch CSI Miami only so we can make fun of David Carruso.
