Where are the Elves When I Need Them?

I just want a little stack of Christmas music delivered to my bedside table in the night. Is that too much to ask?

I need Christmas Music!!

I'm tired of what I've got, and I haven't had anything new for yeeeeeears. Well, I did get Josh Groban's album last year and I love it.

SO here's the thing - - I listen to so much talk radio that I've officially become an OLD person, and I don't even know who I like to listen to anymore.

My celebrity BFF Glenn Beck hasn't put out a Christmas Album yet, though I am looking to purchase it as soon as he does.

(Or maybe I'd rethink that after hearing him sing. I wonder if not being able to sing would disqualify his CBFF status?)

(Probably not.)

(Incidentally, his book The Christmas Sweater was great, and is going into my Must Read Every Year collection!)

(I wonder if I could use more parenthesis here?)

(probably not.)

I'm pretty eclectic, though, and generally enjoy most anything but rap.
Becky thinks I should list some of my favorites, so here they are:
Kenny Loggins December
Carpenters Christmas Portrait
Kenny and Dolly Once Upon a Christmas
Garth Brooks The Magic of Christmas
Josh Groban Noel
Time Life Christmas Treasury
Anything by John Denver, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and Manheim Steamroller

What's your very favorite Christmas album? C'mon, put on your elf hat and tell me what's good!

Here's my new favorite unconventional holiday CD: http://www.amazon.com/Hotel-Cafe-Presents-Winter-Songs/dp/B001EYGOGU

I won't be of any help. I don't do new, really. And I love Mannheim Steamroller's Christmas albums, but I say that at the risk of sounding like the lamest person who reads you blog. Still, I'm not ashamed. My name is LisAway and I love both Mannheim Steamroller Christmas and A Fresh Aire Christmas (don't know the newer ones. See? No new stuff.) SO BRAVE!! (or maybe everyone loves them?)

I haven't heard the whole thing but Faith Hill has a new Christmas CD out with a new song that I just adore called "A Baby Changes Everything". If the rest of the album is as good as that song, then it is totally worth your 15 bucks.

I get a new CD every Christmas...some have been from the Dollar Bin (for a good reason, I will add), but for the most part, how can you go wrong with Christmas music? Here are two of my favorites:

Hallmark Christmas collection 1991 (?) ~ Harry Bellafonte is the "star"

Harry Connick Jr ~ When my heart finds Christmas

and I found someone else's "Top Ten" ~ very traditional (or retro, I guess): http://rateyourmusic.com/list/Willyswing/top_10_christmas_albums/

My fav. song is now "All I want for Christmas is a Real Good Tan" by Kenny Chesney! Amen, Kenny!

I bought Sarah McLachlan's "Wintersong" album last year, and I just love it. My favorite "Oldie-but-goodie" Christmas album is The Carpenter's "Christmas Portrait"- I love listening to the whole album. And you can't go wrong with "A Christmas Festival" with Arthur Fiedler & Boston Pops Orchestra. Ah, heck, I'll just list my other favorites, too.
--Nat King Cole: "The Christmas Song"
--The Tony Bennett Christmas Album (Love the inclusion of "My Favorite Things...")
--Harry Connick, Jr.: "When My Heart Finds Christmas"

My other favorite is a mix CD that a ward choir member back in Colorado made for all of us. It has a bunch of classic carols/hymns/Handel pieces on it, and I cherish it so much. But I can't send you out to buy it, unfortunately. :(

What are *your* favorites? Just because you haven't gotten new music in a while doesn't mean I'm already familiar with the things you listen to! ;)

I'm head over heels in love with pandora.com. It's a web station that plays free music. I simply entered "White Christmas" and voila, instant holiday music! You should check it out.

Elvis Presley "If Every Day Was Like Christmas" - seriously every good collection *must* have Elvis. And I love Josh Groban's CD!

I also like the Josh Groban CD!
The all time best CD of Christmas music is Time Life Treasury of Christmas. I absolutely love it every year I get it out. Having said that. The American Idol Christmas CD is pretty good too.

Sorry, I commented earlier and deleted it! But I know how much you love comments so I'm back :)

Although my Mariah Carey Christmas CD is probably from somewhere between 1994 and 1996, I still love it and listen to it every Christmas. It's just such a great reminder of my pre-teen days, dancing around and officially getting into the Holiday season.

I love the Muppets Christmas too! Yea for John Denver! The classics are perfect as well- Sinatra, Crosby... I have such random compilations I don't even know where to begin!

I'll have to check out Josh Groban's album, since I LOVE his voice. Thanks for the tips!

I love

A Charlie Brown Christmas by Vince Guaraldi.

Ella Fitzgerald Wishes You a Swinging Christmas

Christmas Album and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer by Burl Ives

I am also officially old :) These aren't new, but they're my standbys.

I'm going to have to check out Josh Groban, too.

We have an album entitled White Christmas by Emile Pandolfi (no words, just piano) that I love.

Amy Grant's album that has been out for years, now. I don't know if she has done one since then, but this one is Home For Christmas. I love the Josh Groban one, too.

I love it all... just check itunes.

I LOVE the Jackson 5 Christmas album. Very classic motown combined with Christmas. What more could you want?

Carpenters...John Denver...Josh Groban.

Did you steal my mom's brain? Because that is her in a nutshell.

I personally like The Rat Pack :)

My favorite christmas music is something I grew up with and still love. Osmond Family Christmas. It's all the Osmond kids when they were little. It's great for kids but I still love to listen to it. The only bad thing about it is it's pretty short. Only about 30 minutes from start to finish. But it has all the classics and it's so cute!

I'm an old-fashioned Christmas music junkie...I love Bing, Elvis, Perry Como, etc., but I'm also a fan of Josh Groban, Amy Grant, Carpenters, etc. Have a gReAt Thanksgiving!

AND it's totally 100% free.

go sign up. Do it.

I love a lot of albums, but one of my favorites is a mix I put together instead of a christmas card and sent it to all my friends and ward members. I think all of these songs are totally worth downloading on iTunes:

O Come O Come Emmanuel - Bethany Dillon

Carol of the Bells - The Bird and The Bee

Do They Know It's Christmas? - Christmas Groove Band

Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley

Father Christmas - The Features

Donde Esta Santa Claus? - Guster

Happy X-Mas (War is Over) - John Lennon

Silent Night - Josh Groban

Sleigh Ride - Los Straight Jackets

Grown Up Christmas List - Michael Buble

Santa Claus is Coming to Town -
The Pointer Sisters

Last Christmas - Wham!

The Gift - Ryan Shupe & the Rubber Band

If you trust that I'm not a crazy lunatic - e-mail me your address and I'll send you a copy.

SHeDAISY's Brand New Year and the Ally McBeal Christmas CD.

Someone gave me Ally McBeal and I had never seen the show, but I love the music. It's on repeat while I'm decorating.

I also have a Bing Crosby that CM loves.

LOVE the Josh Groban CD.

Last year I also purchased the MoTab CD that featured Sissel (from the previous year's concert). It's fantastic.

I'm a Muppet Christmas fan too. Haven't heard new stuff in a LOOOONG time, like since Fresh Aire Christmas. I guess it just isn't that crucial for me to hear new stuff right now.

Andy Baby! I mean Andy Williams - I always called him Andy Baby and when my kids were growing up (okay, well I still do) and they'd all say "Oh no Mom's playing Andy Baby again!" But I know they all secretly love him too, very secretly, they still roll their eyes if I try to play his Christmas albums - well my original ones were called albums - I do have CD's now.
I also love Anne Murray's Christmas album, and most of the ones everyone already mentioned. I just couldn't figure out why everyone missed Andy Baby...

I love Celine Dion's Christmas album. I have it if you want to borrow before you buy! I also love Micheal McLeans "Forgotten Carols." (Have it, too) (of course)

My favourite is A Time for Peace by Roger Whittaker. I grew up with it so maybe it's hokey, I don't know.

Also, Liz Story's piano music on her CD The Gift.

And the Windham Hill Winter's Solsitce collection which is part instrumental, part vocal, and stunningly beautiful.

I love Glen Beck...although sometimes he's a little over the top on his radio show...

Great, now I have tons of new Christmas music to purchase.

Actually, I am planning a post about Christmas music in the next week or two. I have over 500 x-mas songs on my iPod, and I am always wanting more.

My very favorite is Jingles by Voice Male. Have you heard of them? It's a capella, and it is FANTASTIC.

I also love Josh Groban, John Denver, Mannheim Steamroller and MoTab!

"Let It Snow" by Michael Buble is great, too!

This is an old post and you've got a ton of suggestions but I wanted to add my favorite to the list (it might have already been added but shoot- 39 comments to read? who has the time?)

The Home Alone soundtrack is FABULOUS.
