Some Light Housekeeping

Or maybe I should call it blogkeeping.
But then you really wouldn't know what I was talking about, would you?

Just a couple of things I've been meaning to take care of - - in no particular order.

*************************************************

Have you been here yet?

Now I know the Pioneer Woman has a serious cooking page, but I haven't really been blown away by every recipe I've tried. Kinda hit and miss.

But Amy? Amy is an amazing cook. I know this because I have eaten things she has made, AND I have made things off her new dessert blog. Everything is out-of-the-park, good-enough-for-your-in-laws amazing.
I promise I would not steer you wrong.

Visit, follow, make, eat. In that order.

*************************************************

I got this handmade bag after shamelessly begging Melissa for a gift after my horrific Enrichment night experience a year and a half ago.
You can read about it here. (If you go, read through the comments to find the hilarious hymn verse Vern wrote to commemorate my trauma!)

After the begging, I was embarrassed, but since my little bag came, I decided it was all worth it. Hmmm, positive reinforcement for negative behavior seems like it's becoming a way of life. But hey, as long as I get cute stuff, right?

Melissa, you are an amazing seamstress and friend! I love the fabric, and it's the perfect size.

**********************************************************

Happy Mommy is going to be even Happier (maybe) when she finally gets her
which were promised to her LAST OCTOBER. Here's the post where she actually won. It's my goal in life to get the box mailed before next General Conference in April. Because, you know, I might want to do that little contest again, and I don't want to have a reputation as a loser when it comes to prizes.
Just had you on my mind, girl, and I wanted you to know that I haven't forgotten you, though I'm sure you've wondered.

*************************************************

I meant to call the store to talk about the $4.79, but instead apparently I've decided to just live with the guilt for a few more days.

************************************************

Tomorrow I have to talk in Sacrament Meeting. They're having all the members of the Ward Council talk about their piece of the ward mission plan. Everytime I get my talk sorted out in my head, I make the mistake of talking to The Brain about it. I know he's just trying to be helpful but, well, you know....
I'm so frustrated, I could blog.
But that would be bad, especially considering that I'm getting no closer to having this talk done.

Wish me luck.

**********************************************
I think that about sums it up for the blogkeeping. Hope your Sunday is more restful than mine will be. I really am starting to dislike afternoon church immensely. Is it still February?
Only 11 1/2 months to go.

Good luck on your talk. I won't lie, I'm terrified of speaking in church.
And super cute purse!

I just read your post about Enrichment night.

Now I need brownies.

Good luck with your talk. Maybe you can work in some sort of parable involving brownies?

Too bad I didn't know your blog when you first wrote the enrichment night post. I avoid ours because I always stick my foot in my mouth at one point... but never about dessert!

Good luck with your talk! Those are always hard to start and then to finish.

Way cute purse. Good luck on the talk. And I don't DARE go to that dessert blog. I'd stay there for long time periods and make and eat things I'd regret.

Oh gosh..I just can't let this go without commenting on the gossipy woman at RS. I guess I missed that post in December. When I was on my mission in CA 2005-2007, one of the counselors in the mission presidency was the guy who owns El Pollo Loco fast food establishments all of the US. So every time there was a dinner involved, guess what we'd eat? Yup. El Pollo Loco food. At one zone conference I was sitting at the table with a couple sent down from SL to monitor something in the mission. The guy ( Mr. El Pollo Loco) came up to the table to meet them and then said...."I betcha you never had potatoes any better than those where you come from". I froze because they'd been muttering about the bad food. My brain said....shutupshutupshutup. But to no avail. The husband said to Mr. EPL...."I think we could get potatoes anywhere better than these." I wish there'd been a hole for me to climb into. Mr. EPL just smiled and walked away. After he left, the couple asked me...Who WAS that? I said very nicely......"He owns El Pollo Loco" and then as I was finished eating, I picked up my plate and left.

Moral of the story? You Just Never Know.

I think it's adorable that you got a bag out of your homemaking post. What good friends you have!

Take heart--it's only 10.5 months, not 11.5--and it's nearly spring and that makes everything sweeter.

How'd the talk go, lady?

How'd your talk go?

I totally remember your Enrichment experience. Hmmm.....have those ladies apologized or anything? And perhaps even the bigger question would be: Have you since gone to another Enrichment activity?

You totally scored with that purse!

So, how did it go with your talk?

I'm going to try Amy's chocolate chunk oatmeal cookies. My kids love those.

I :D at Lucy's Mr. EPL story.

Isn't it wonderful that with time, we can laugh at things? I went and read your enrichment night post and I totally felt your pain. I have been there and completely understood. How fortunate that you can laugh now.

BTW, I love hard brownies dunked in milk!

I'm laughing because I totally remember that song, and the purse promised!!

Our comp. is freaking out and I'm stealing time on the company computer.... so I'll be hit and miss!

Can't wait to see your hair... your real hair.
