Ahoy

Sometimes I get the feeling that nobody really looks at me during the day.

Last week I took off my hoop earring to talk on the phone in the morning, and apparently went with the pirate look for the rest of the day. AND NO ONE SAID A THING.

Arrrgggggg.

That arrrrggggg kind of makes you sound pirate-y too. :)

I know what you mean. It seems like once you become a mom, no one notices what you look like anymore.

Try wearing a bathrobe next time. Maybe someone will notice that, lol.

I guess you know who your true friends are. No one. For the record, I would have said something.

Heidi said...

Yeah--what Kristina said. We're you're REAL friends, but we just can't see you to tell you what's wrong with you with any kind of certainty. It could be worse.

I so would have told you.

I probly wouldn't have noticed---I'm not the most observant person when it comes to jewelry:) Maybe if you had added an eye patch?

It's for that very reason that I don't wear hoop earrings.

Maybe your Deborah Norville hair was covering your ears up?

That's about as bad as me wearing my sunglasses on my head during the entire sacrament meeting yesterday. I'm the ward chorister, so everybody saw it -- and nobody said a word! Not even when I finally discovered it during the THIRD HOUR...! They all probably thought I was suffering from sleep depravation -- which I AM!

Your zipper was down and you had spinich in your teeth too, but I didn't want to embarrass you.

Next time, you should take that hoop earring and put it in your nose.
I bet someone will notice that!

Or not.

I once went through an entire day of church.

With snot on my cheek.

Yeah.

They probably were just as unobservant as you were. It's like when your shirt has a button undone like some sort of seductive woman or you have an awesome mascara smear from that quick nap you finally got. Pretty much nobody's gonna let you know except the person staring back at you in the mirror. Even, or especially, if you work in an office with a high volume of people flowing through. And that was just college people!

I could have used a friend to stop me today when I walked out in my front yard without a shirt. I had just returned from running and in an effort to cool down I took off my shirt. Yeah, I am so not one of those people where it is okay to be seen in the front yard in only a sports bra.

Ok, the sunglasses in sacrament meeting is awesome. See Randi, the earring was minor. I'm sure that's why no one mentioned it.

See I wouldn't have noticed it because I would have been focused on my little girl pulling up her dress to pull down her slip - in church - two rows from the bishop.

I think you'd make an awesome pirate anyway;)

I totally would have said something......because I'd want someone to tell me that something's amiss with the wardrobe/accessories.

One time I put on miss matched earrings, and wore them all. day. long. to a family event-- NO ONE including my husband said anything!

Look on the bright side-- at least your fly wasn't down! : )

I came home from Seminary one day and Kyle told me I needed to look at the back of my hair--when I looked in the mirror I noticed my hair was sticking out. I asked him why he didn't say something at Seminary. "I didn't want to embarrass you."

My response, "Oh, AND NOW I'm not embarrassed at all."

two thoughts

knowing you as well as i do, i would have guessed you were starting a cool new trend.

and in regards to Laurens comment, i bet if you tried NOT wearing a bathrobe, someone would be sure to notice that.

and probably say something.

it would probably be the police

ARRRRR

Really. Shouldn't we tell each other this sort of thing?

I love that you call it the pirate look!

Maybe your hair was covering the evidence?

I went to the store in my house shoes and pajama pants. I really did mean to wear real clothes that day. My mom tried to go to church in just her slip once. See, there is plenty worse that could happen to you!

Becky said...

Seriously, who *are* these people who assume you'd rather not know if you're walking around with fly open for the world to see?! Wait, yours was a missing earring. I, uh, don't know anything about an open fly...

But, really, just tell us!!

Vern said...

Maybe your closest friends didn't want to say anything for fear you would be taken out by a sniper! I think they just had your best interest in mind.

The Mom said...

I would have told you. I am also the person that will tuck the tag on your shirt in. Or do up your button. Or tell you your fly is down. Or that you have snot on your cheek. The sunglasses thing? I wouldn't have thought about that. I sometimes use my sunglasses as a headband! LOL

What's with all the pirates lately?

I just remembered how a few weeks ago I was putting my makeup on and I put some concealer under my eyes (in an attempt to conceal the dark circles there) and I didn't bother smoothing it out until after parent teacher conferences were over.
I had these big, highly noticeable lines of makeup under my eyes and nobody told me.
Not the 5 other people in my family.
Not my son's teacher.
Not my daughter's teacher.
Not the 2 ladies running the book fair.
Not the 5 neighbors and my son's preschool teacher that we ran into at the book fair.

Yes, I felt like a dork.

Lol, I've walked around with one earring on before, too. No-one said anything to me either! I wonder if people just assume you meant to do it?

Congrats on winning at Light Refreshments Served! I'm jealous...maybe it will make up for your pirate moment?

I hate that! Maybe no one noticed!

Miranda said...

Hey...where ya been? I miss you!

Sad thing is most people are so caught up in themselves they might not notice. That is why when I do something really embarrassing or dumb I just remember I am probably just about the only one that noticed. :)
Cute blog!
