I Want To Be Annette Lyon!

But then, who doesn't, right?

Annette is not only a very successful author of lds books, but she's smart, and fun, and she knows all about good grammar. So if you're a grammarian, you don't have to twitch when you read her blog. (If you twitch when you read mine, I don't want to know about it.) Another thing that makes me want to be her is that she knows enough about chocolate to have a whole book about it in the works.

But anyway --

Here most recent books are a series of historical fiction novels that center around the early temple building days. Here's the latest one, which I haven't finished yet, but it's a great story so far! ------->

I sometimes wonder what it would be like to write books that people might actually want to read....

..... Whenever I think about it, I usually start with an idea, and end up tangled in a crazy impossible story light years away from the plot line I first began planning.

For fun, I jotted down some fragmented questions that came up during my most recent brainstorming session, and I tossed them over to Annette, just to see what she would make of them. I'm thinking maybe she'd like to collaborate with me on her next book,

Me: So Annette, if Tower of Strength were to be made into TV mini-series, who would you picture playing the lead. Besides Miley Cyrus, I mean.
Annette: I can't request Miley? Dang. Then I guess I can't pick a Jonas brother to play Samuel either, huh?
Then maybe Amy Adams, even if she has the wrong hair color.
Me: oooo! And she could sing while the mice clean the outhouse. I see where you're going with this!

Me: If Tabitha had a blog, what would her tagline be?
Annette: I'm a woman, I can do it, and I'll prove it.

Me: Four temples down, 120 to go. When in that line-up are you going to write about the Denver Temple?
Annette: Denver is slated for 2043, right after Nuku'alofa Tonga and before Lubbock Texas.

Me: Have you considered having all your heroines get together in your next book? Sort of a "reunion" book. You know, like that Star Trek Generations movie, where the captains from different times have to work together toward one goal?
Annette: Ooooh . . . intriguing . . .
Maybe I could make it a time-travel novel so the historical heroines have to band together to save Utah from some evil Republican plot so my two contemporary ladies can actually live out their stories.
Dude. That could totally rock.

Me: What about time traveling into the future so that the story can take place around the Lunar Temple building? (I think we're on to something here!)
Annette: Even better!
While listening to Brooke sing on the Lunar Temple grounds, Hannah trips and falls into a crater, taking Annela with her. They hit their heads and get major concussions. Tabitha reports the tragedy in the Lunar newspaper as Maddie nurses the victims back to health using skills she learned in her story. Meanwhile, Bethany has a nervous breakdown when she's the only woman left to run the entire Lunar Temple cafeteria.

As you can see, it's clearly possible that if I can not BE Annette, I could definitely team up with her. I know she would really appreciate my ADD-riddled suggestions. But let's not call them that. Let's call them an "interesting and different perspective".

Because she needs that so badly... ;)

Annette, have you ever considered giving a fellow blogger who helped you with your story ideas her own byline on the cover of that book?

I mean, if I can't BE you, I guess having my name on the cover with yours would be second best. Oh, and my picture on the jacket, OBVIOUSLY.

My gosh, you're like twins! :)

Our little library doesn't carry a whole lot of LDS fiction. Oh, who am I kidding? There's none at all. I'll have to suck it up and just buy the book.
