Not Only Am I Getting Old, I'm Getting Senile, Too.

A few weeks ago I noticed that my scriptures were getting further and farther (I had to look up those definitions and I decided they both apply...) away from me as I read them. At first I blamed everything on my bleary-eyedness from our so-early-it's-still-dark-family-scripture-time in the mornings, but no, even later in the day I had to hold them at arm's length to actually read those microscopic words.

SO I finally broke down and went to Target where I bought some $6 reading glasses. They are Sarah Palin style, and I love them and would actually wear them all the time if they didn't completely mess up my far vision and give me a creepy, nauseating, vertigo thing when I try to focus back and forth. (Though I'm vain enough that I thought about just wearing them anyway. But then it's hard to drive when you get nauseated every time you look past the steering wheel. Common sense trumps vanity once again, dangit.)

So why? WHY? Why didn't my Sarah Palin glasses jump to mind when the optometrist told us that Lizzie needed mild reading glasses?

We paid $120 for prescription glasses. Yes, they look darling on her.

But when we got home and traded glasses just for fun?

They were the exact same prescription.

Awesome.

Dang it....I hate getting ripped off. At least you both have cute classes now!

At least if she breaks them, she can just have yours, no?

Too bad my eyesight is too terrible to lament my good eyesight going - glasses since kindergarten, baby! In fact, it's so bad that it qualifies to be covered by our health insurance that doesn't have eyecare on it. cool, no?

hey, that means you are a teenager in eye years, right?

Can I just say that I love how you looked up farther/further? That brings me joy.

Well at least you didn't pay the high price twice!
I think I am going deaf but refuse to go get a horn for my ear! :D

That's crazy! I just paid 125 for mine too. Next time I'm hitting up TArget!

When vanity starts to edge out common sense again you could always provide yourself with a car barf bag.

and what happened to Friday flair last week? I missed it

Seriously? You could have just bought her a $6 pair? Oh, I hate that. And also, why do glasses have to be so expensive. It's annoying when every person in your family wears them. . .

Which glasses are cuter, because if the more expensive ones are, then you should take those for yourself.

Bummer about getting the prescription ones. Hopefully the Target ones are all you and she ever need. Glasses can be such a pain!

I won't tell you what I paid for my first pair of glasses. (Too much.)

I'll take the cost of those $6 reading glasses over my annual purchase of contacts. Now that's a fun expense......

I wish I could wear the Target ones. I found a site where all of their glasses are less than $100. If I can find it again I'll post the link.

First thing in the morning is by far THE WORSE. But it's seeing the hymnbook and the chorister that gives me the most grief.

How fun that you and Lizzie can share reading glasses.

LOL! It is a rip off, isn't it?

Go to the dollar stores and buy them there! They are cheap enough there to have one in every room of the house......

I started getting blurry about 5 years ago, but decided that I could stand the tickle they gave my nose less that the squinting. So they sat around forever, until now, when I really DO need them, and do you think I could find them? Oh well, the prescription has probably changed WAY too much for them to be useful.

Oh, and by the way, where do I rank on your Top Commenters list?
(you are #42 on mine - 3 comments!)

I take my girls' prescriptions to Walmart. Cheaper than the doc. Especially when they bend the frames a lot. Cheaper to replace.

Cool on extending your commenters list... but I am a long way from Dave...weird, but I'm not normally a competitive person.
And yes, I would LOVE to travel 1000 miles several times a week to run with you. I hear Colorado is beautiful this time of year! hehe(Seriouly, though, on my sidebar, I post my exercise for the week, if you're at all curious about where I'm at with it. It helps keep me motivated, for sure!)

We never get old.
It is a mather of attitude.
People did alot at any age.
See http://www.whatwasdone.com/
Age is not that important.

My (very wealthy) eye doc (opthomologist) wears discount store reading glasses, and he suggested I do the same. I love my dollar store glasses and have a pair in nearly every room in the house since I misplace them so easily.

Aaaahhhhh. . . I'm happy with being #5. (Wonder what that says about me?)

And seriously, I am never, ever competitive. Just havin' some fun! (And I totally love your blog)
