The Grudge

My mom says I've always been a grudge holder. It's something I battle with a lot.
I know forgiveness is better than holding that grudge. I really do. Why it's so natural for me to want to stay mad, I couldn't tell you.

So this weekend, I was very proud of myself when for no apparent reason I finally forgave the Dixie Chicks.

I've had them in time-out for 6 years now. I think they've learned their lesson.

Road trips are a good time to sort things like that out, I guess.

Oprah, however, I'm still mad at.

You are a better person than I, I am still holding a grudge.

I guess good for you. I never liked them much in the first place. :)

You really are the bigger person. Way to go.

Hmm I guess maybe I should forgive them too :)

I'm so glad you let them out of time out. I've heard they can get kind of cranky... :)

I'm still holding that grudge. This post has made me realize that I'm a gruder-holder, too. I guess I need to work on that... ; ) Thanks for the laughs!

I want to hear about O-- I might regret that one, but I'm interested!

I'm still mad at the Dixie Chicks! I'm not sure why but I am.

Dr. Phil is never getting my forgiveness.

I admire you for forgiving :-) although I'm not really into the Dixie Chicks even before they committed their "sin". I'm not into Oprah either, but I'm curious about what she did that crossed the line for you. I want to hear about Oprah's infraction. I have a feeling it's going to be interesting and entertaining :-)

I am still holding a grudge against them. I guess I should let it go.

I'm curious about your Oprah grudge. Do tell.

Randi said...

Oh Kristina! I completely forgot about Dr Phil.
Thanks for the grudge reminder. What would I do without my friends, right?

I guess I'm not a forgiving person ; (

Good for you But why can't singers just sing and actors just act.

I am impressed. Way to go. I am not sure I am there yet with the Dixie Chicks--it was pretty bad what they did and then how they went about apologizing. Although I don't share your grudge with Oprah, I do understand it!

Why do we need to forgive the Dixie Chicks for expressing their political thoughts? I thought we lived in a country where freedom of speech is allowed.

Lee said...

I'm so out of the loop.

Randi said...

Carol - Obviously freedom of speech is allowed.

I'm sure you would agree that I then have freedom to not like what was said, and to not support someone who uses their freedom of speech to be (in my opinion) disrespectful and disloyal to my country.

I also have the freedom to then rethink it, and decide that I like their music, but not their politics.

But now I'm rethinking the whole rethinking thing, and I may have spoken too soon on the whole forgiveness thing.

Thanks for helping me rethink that.

We may never agree on the political action the Dixie Chicks made, but I'm glad we both agree that

THEY ARE FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!

here's my fav, it gives me chills, and almost a :') every time I see/hear it.

Don't rethink it too much. I'll make point to forgive Toby Keith, and the karma will all be balanced out.

Dave said...

btw, in honor of your post i put in my dixie chicks playlist
:D

Randi said...

If you were REALLY honoring the post, you'd put in your Toby Keith playlist. :D

Dave said...

Unfortunately, no Toby Keith resides in my house(and therefore my ipod or itunes). I'll have to demonstrate my forgiveness by not almost breaking a finger as I jab the button when he comes on the radio.

I'll save that reaction for Nickelback.

Unless it's that "beer for my horses" song. because torturing my ears is not a good way to demonstrate forgiveness.

Not gonna lie---the Dixie Chicks will never be on my good list. Of course, they never were to begin with but that's just cuz I found them annoying. Now I find them annoying and pretentious and flip-floppish.

But I admire you in your ability to forgive. Something I should probly work on... :)

wow what a beautiful song! Thanks for sharing. I'm sure they suffered for their opinion! don't they know how many republicans like country music??? I have no idea what Oprah did...I assume it was political???

goddessdivine said...

I'll concede that my anger and resentment toward the Dixie Chics has subsided some; but they haven't completely come back into my good graces yet. I'm not a fan of country music, but I did like some of their stuff (and that song was beautiful). Have they actually officially apologized in some way, shape, or form?

Oprah blew it for me when she had on gay and straight guests and she and the gay activists teamed up against the ONE person who was sticking up for traditional values. So much for being fair to your guests and letting them share their point of view without repercussions. She even furthered my demise with her fawning crush for Obama, traveling around the country saying things like, "He is the one we've been waiting for." (Uh, excuse me?) And then she refused to have on VP candidate Sarah Palin. I watch her once every blue moon, but I've never really forgiven her for that one episode (and her blatantly obvious ideology/agenda).

Lol. They're whiney-ish. It's hard to forgive.

There is a difference between saying you don't agree with something the President is doing, and saying you're ashamed of him, especially while you are in a foreign country. I had a lot of problems with President Clinton, but I still had respect for the office he held.

Oprah really bothered me with her Obama love. I get tired of people acting like he walks on water. I'm bugged now too because of what GoddessDivine said about Oprah's episode with the gay and straight people. Heaven forbid someone expresses an opinion that is not the same as hers!

Ok,now I'll get off my soapbox. ;)

I've forgiven the Chicks, but Harrison Ford has been permanently banished from my Good List.

I'm mad at the Dixie Chicks for letting their music get all crappy and messagy....and as far as Oprah is concerned, I gave her up long ago.

talitha said...

I still love me some Dixie Chicks. I just pretend they are SheDaisy (who sound very similiar) and the whole political thing just goes away...

Oprah, however. Oprah couldn't win me over with a personal-on-my-doorstep apology. Well...if she had Peter Walsh with her, possibly.

But probably not. I am bitter like that. Funny thing is that it's not Oprah that I really dislike. It's her sheeple.

What's forgiveness to someone you will never meet? If you want to hold a grudge, I say hold one against someone you'll never really know. heh heh

Oprah sucks.

Are the Dixie Chicks still around? (my forgiveness was instant-but I only want to hear them sing, not talk)

Roxie said...

Yup. Still not enjoying Oprah.

Some grudges are completely understandable.

People who hold grudges against me are the crazy ones.
