I was working on a different post for today. But today I’m in the convention center in downtown Denver, where Lizzie is in the midst of three days of rehearsals for the Colorado All State Choir. The snow is floating outside the giant wall of windows in front of me, and I’m watching the construction workers negotiate the slick steel of the new building going up across the street. It’s very very distracting.
Then again, I'm the one who will sit and watch a bulldozer all morning long, so maybe it's just me.
This is the view from the hotel window. Isn't it amazing? Well, it probably looks better in person. I wish I could get the camera to focus on the giant snowflakes -- they're gorgeous! I could watch this view and listen to the choir all day.
Which is good, because it’s likely what I’ll be doing. Except eventually I'm going to have to go outside and open a Diet Coke. Because I'm pretty sure if a certain someone in the choir heard the sound of a pop can being opened in the room... well, they might be missing a second alto for a few minutes.
No matter how old you are, field trips are still awesome, and your mom can still embarrass you.
What a great day!

I'M FIRST, I'M FIRST, I'M FIRST. I haven't been first in ages.
I'm going to publish this and then really make a comment.
I love giant snowflakes.
How fun for you. I'm sure Lizzie loves having you chaperone. (And I really mean that)
Enjoy the snow and, of course, the Diet Coke ; )
Good luck to Lizzie and the entire choir!
We just had about 20" of snow this weekend, are expecting 6-12" more tomorrow. While I love snow, I'm not really thinking it's that pretty right now ... lol
So fun!!! I wish I could be there watching the construction and the snow fall with you!! Tell Lizzie I say good luck and I am So proud of her!!! Love you!!!
And yummmm diet coke...... Haha
It must look better in person, because that just looks depressing.
we had the gorgeous snow on fri. made it hard to concentrate on work. but man, that stuff melted on sat :-( didn't even get to go sledding.
n-e-way, i hope one of those guys doesn't fall. i'd hate for you to have to drop your diet coke to catch him.
Listening to your daughter sing, looking at the beautiful view through the beautiful snow and contemplating embarrassing said daughter. Sounds pretty perfect to me.
I could watch construction crews work many stories up.
It's pretty snowless where I am :)
Good luck to the choir!
I'm so jealous!! I miss the snow so much. Tell Lizzie good luck from me!
That is a beautiful view! I have visited Denver once and was amazed at the beauty of all the green everywhere (t'was early summer). And downtown was cool, really cool. We took our son to National Jewish Hospital there and we've had fond feelings for Denver ever since!
Good luck to Lizzie. I loved those days spent trying out for state choir. Nothing seemed bigger than that at that moment.
How cool to share it w/ Mom. Enjoy!
So glad I'm not the only one who likes to watch snow. There's something about that white precipitation that is mesmerizing....
I love field trips. The last one I remember was going to Krispy Kreme with my son's preschool group. Always with the food memories.
Yep. It's the mom's job to embarras her kids. Makes 'em tough, and ready for the rough and tumble world. Especially if they know how much you REALLy love them...
