STUFF On My List

Ahh.  School holidays.  Everyone in my family has a different idea about what should happen for spring break this year.

I just want to GO somewhere.
The Brain and Buddy can't take off work/classes, so they have to stay home.
Lizzie wants to go to BYU-Idaho to get a tour and check it out now that she's been officially accepted
Mimi wants to go to Arizona to get a great tan.  (This coming from the girl who's skin is lighter than the very lightest foundation you can buy at Wal-Mart. Seriously, she puts on Pure Porcelain and looks like she's wearing a mask. I mean, I'd love her to get a tan, but I don't think that's physically possible in 3 days.)  (Don't you love it when a whole paragraph ends up in parenthesis?)
Hannah wants us to come and pick her up in Wyoming where she'll be finishing up work at the snowmobile resort.

Sooooo.  To Mimi's dismay, education and rides home take precedence over tanning.  I TOLD her she will get the same amount of tan in the car on the way through Wyoming, but I don't think she's buying it. In an effort to smooth things over and make her happier, I told her that she can do some of the driving.

And lest you be fooled into thinking that Lizzie and Hannah are happier with the arrangement than Mimi, you'll should know that there was a mini freak out today when I suggested that we take more than 3 days to make the 1500 mile trip, and actually -you know- enjoy ourselves and SEE STUFF.

Like what??  Like WHAT??  It was a mini melt-down, but a melt-down none-the-less.

so I came home and started researching STUFF.

For example, did you know that the World's Biggest Ball of Barbed Wire is right there in Jackson, WY?  How could you just drive right by that?
I KNOW,  RIGHT?

And just a little further down the road?  The World's Biggest Potato.

We are also going to ride a Jackelope, see a real two headed lamb, and if we're lucky, see the A&W statue that's been turned into a chainsaw guy.

I'm thinking of requiring a daily video diary from each kid - because I think it would be priceless.

And if you know of any STUFF I've missed on my little CO, WY, ID, UT itinerary, just let me know.  Because this is going to be epic -- even if it kills me.

the video diary is a GREAT idea. I picture a "blair witch"-esque entry from day 3 or 4 with all four of you huddling in the back seat while a crazed mountain goat blares queen through your back speakers.

plus, you can use them as like 2 weeks worth of blog posts.

I agree with Dave--the video diary would be WONDERFUL. Actually, anything that would cause you to blog more would be appreciated.

There is so much to see--I know you'll find it all. (Seriously don't know how we missed that Barbed Wire ; )

Um... do NOT forget the Archway in Jackson made of antlers! It's in the middle of town. You are welcome. Enjoy the trip.

Rick's (BYU-I) is awesome! Lizzy is gonna love it, maybe a little too much.

I'm with you, just going SOMEWHERE is good enough. I just bought tickets that "accidentally" extended my kids' spring break into TWO weeks. "Oops."

(And putting whole paragraphs in parentheses is my trademark.)

I live in north Idaho - do you know how many lakes are in this area? It almost rivals the Great Lakes area - well, not quite, but there's a lot of water recreation if you wanted to tack an extra 500 miles or so onto your trip, one way. And water-ski in insullated wetsuits. Oh yes, people do that here...
