Political Randomness

I'm so over this election. Pleeeeeeeze just let it be over with. Usually I have a pretty high tolerance for this stuff, but it's getting out of hand. The name calling and the things people are stooping to are ridiculous. I've gotten to the point where I'm bringing my McCain signs in the house at night, because I'm tired of replacing them.
I don't even think Tina Fey is funny anymore. It's just old.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I should probably go vote today or tomorrow. I just have to figure out a couple of the amendments. I will read them, but I can usually tell which ones I'm voting for just by seeing the name of the groups making the commercials. I'm against pretty much anything supported by the teacher's union, protectchoicedotorg, and my across-the-street neighbor.
And if you're an Obama supporter, does it worry you at all that you're on the same side as my across-the-street neighbor? Because quite honestly, just that fact all by itself would make me rethink my stance on just about anything. Not that I'd change my mind, necessarily, but oh boy, I'd think about it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If the politics topic is tiring me, you'd think I'd quit talking about it, wouldn't you? But I do want to say that I am inspired by all the California bloggers who are using their blogs to take a stand for Prop 8. I know it's not the popular thing to do right now, (see here) but it's important. If you're interested, there's a great discussion going on over at Welcome to My Soapbox. Be sure to read the posts over the past week or so to get caught up.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My eyelashes are getting shorter. Is this a sign of getting older that no one ever told me about? Really, I used to have long and thick eyelashes, and I noticed the other day that it takes more and more mascara. I'm beginning to sympathize with Tammy Fay. If you're too young to know Tammy Fay Baker, well, that's probably one bit of pop culture you can do without.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I just threw that last one in so you'd know how really really random my brain is today. Just in case you hadn't already picked up on that.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
oh, and thanks to Sarah and Jen for the fantastic award! I love it!
I never think Tina Fey is funny. In fact, I'm an avid hater.
I'm tired of it all, too. I wonder, are there people who are really out there saying cheering on all the mudslinging? I don't get it.
Congrats on your well deserved award! I heart your blog, too!!
Yeah, Let's not get started on all the stupid people I know who are for Obama, which makes me against Obama by association. Love Palin, not so much Tina. She's like a skinny-chicken-butt version of Sarah.
I a regular visitor. I just don't bother you with comments much...BUT...I love the reference to Tammy Fay Baker. She was a piece of work that always found me just shaking my head. I'd all but forgotten about her. Funny. And the Tina Fey spots? I died laughing at the first ones that popped up....but yes. Getting old now. Love your blog.
Ditto on being sick of the election!
Totally hilarious! And YES my eyelashes are getting shorter. And YES I am not an Obama fan. And YES I will be voting. And YES I am sick of elections/promotions. Did I leave anything out? Oh, and YES, I am a first-time visitor and loved your blog and I love comments TOO! I'm from good ole Utah, BTW! Have a great day.
It's getting so ridiculous. And I'm tired of Conservatives being called "close minded" because we don't believe the same way librals do. Who's really close-minded?
I probably say this every time someone mentions something about the election, but it's something I think Canada has right: They call an election and in 30 days IT'S OVER!!!!
The whole protest at the temple was horrible.
Haven't noticed that my eyelashes have gotten shorter.
Thanks for the educational links. Much appreciated.
Tina Fey was funny once. But let's face it, comedians make their bread and butter making fun of politcal figures. Wouldn't it be nice to live in a world where people don't make a living at the expense of someone else's dignity?
Sorry about the eyelashes! It makes the whole political uproar pale in comparison, doesn't it? :)
I can feel my blood pressure increase exponentially as I view the slide show of protesters who believe in something that I disagree with. And it doesn't matter what the issue is. I felt the same way when some parents in my neighborhood protested a hotel that may or may not be built near our local elementary school.
Either way, I am reminded of our most recent General Conference of the Church where our leaders taught us about hope and peace. God is in control. We need to just trust in Him (and do all we can do) that all will be well.
Is it possible to be entirely sick of the election and politics in general when I still don't know for sure who I'll vote for? Because I swear I'm there. This whole thing is just dragging on, and I don't like *anything* about it.
I'm sick of it, too! I voted yesterday---but even still, there's one more week of hearing everything they candidates say.
And also---sorry about the eyelashes thing. Never heard of that happening...
Yeah, that's happened to my eyelashes, too. But, I don't think I can do the Tammy Faye thing (looked like tarantulas on her eyes).
I'm so disturbed by what's happening to the members in CA that are supporting prop. 8. They are being targeted by a website that's found out who contributed to the fund to pass prop. 8 and people are trying to dig up dirt on these members just because they are using their right of freedom of speech. Very scary. People who support gay rights are crossing the line.
I saw McCain when he was in Durango. Great speech, but the Obama supporters were so disrespectful with their profane signs and things they shouted out of their cars. They need to grow up.
And, I just found out that Obama wants to draft women into the military. Is that scary or what?
Good luck with those false eyelashes...I went to my dermatologist a few months back and she prescribed blue green algae and biotin supplements. I also noticed when my estrogen rx was lowered my hair thinned out dramatically so they re-upped it and My hair grew back!! Yay!
Hear, hear. I am sick to death of election buzz...and I consider myself a political junkie. I even went to Colorado Springs to see Sarah Palin when she was in town. (She looked great, by the way, and has an amazing ability to fire up a crowd.)
I was sealed in the Oakland temple and it made my heart sink to see the protesters there. My parents are still in CA; they said their Yes on 8 lawn signs have been stolen 3 times! Can't both sides be grown-up about politics?
Thanks for letting me rant. I'm done now.
I'm going to go google Tammy Fay Baker right now.
Tina was funny on Update but her "B!tch is the new black" Hilary speech made me think, gosh, I don't think I need to watch SNL anymore.
You have to keep replacing your McCain signs? That is sad.
P.S. I found out about the Oakland temple thing today and will post about it tomorrow... it's getting weird. It's not like we're not used to picketers - at least, in SLC and at temple open houses - but there's so much animosity now. Those poor Saints in CA.
I can't remember a time when I've felt so much hate in the world. It's disturbing- it makes me want to crawl into a hole and never turn on the computer or the news.
I can't help but feel that this financial problem is the tip of the iceberg- that a real disaster is heading our way to humble us.
Because that's what God does with those he loves- humble them. (Reading 3rd Nephi right now is kind of eerie)
Thanks for the blog love!
Have you lost weight lately? It can dramatically affect your eyelashes, Seriously!
randi, I love your commentary on your neighbor across the street, and how if anyone is even opining with her, they need to rethink their life.
How funny that you too look to see who is endorsing what; that will often influence my decision. Anything the teacher's union supports I say, "Well, that tells me to vote 'No'" And I'm a teacher! But we all know how I feel about unions.
So sad about the temple. Seeing those protesters in front of MY temple (where I grew up) is saddening.
AMEN!! I went and voted today so I wouldn't have to listen anymore!!
I just pray for, at least one time in my lifetime, an election that is one to get excited about. Again, I feel as though it's just something we all can't wait to get past.
I don't think this is what the founding fathers had in mind, ya know? Getting elected by doing the best job of making the opponent look bad.
Val said...
I agree with lippy.
Congrats on your blog award.
The eyelash thing is true Randi. They shorten. But sometimes, they reappear longer. Strange huh. It's like your body is deciding on what it should do forever. So weird.
The election will come to a close. Maybe you should do a youtube of your neighbor. It may help. You never know.
Maybe that was really Tina Fey hanging from that mad mans house in CA.
My parents live in So Cal, and spent the weekend working the streets (don't tell their bishop) holding up Prop 8 signs. They were mooned, sworn at, and flipped off. All in a day's work!
I miss Tammy Faye.
I'm a permanent absentee ballot voter, so I've already cast my vote. The frustrating thing is that if you live in California, then pretty much your vote doesn't count if you vote Republican. But hopefully my vote WILL count for Prop 8!
Arizona also has a marriage protection amendment proposition, and I have to bring my "Support 102" sign in the house every night so it doesn't get stolen like my last one did. No one has stolen my McCain/Palin sign...yet.
Tammy Fay...AAAGGGHHH!!!
