Is there a woman in North America who doesn't recognize the distinctive smell of Playtex Deodorant Tampons?
Seriously, you know exactly the smell I'm talking about, right?
Do you know the name of that smell?
I do.
Because someone in my house recently purchased Bath and B0dy W0rks Enchanted Orchid lotion. Oh, it smells fine in the bottle, but once you've had it on for about ten minutes, that very distinctive smell begins.
In the perfume industry I think they call it an "undertone".
Around here I just call it - "Hey, do you have scented tampons in your purse? Because what the heck?"
I mean, it's not a BAD smell. It's just not a really good one.
So, yeah, I'm not saying I'm a fragrance expert or anything, but my advice would be:
ixnay on the orchiday.

Wow, that would make me throwup after about 2 minutes. I don't want to smell like a tampon, surprisingly enough.
What were they thinking?!
i came here to say:
i don't really have anything to say
but i really don't want to break my streak of commenting on every post.
so here's my very first "no comment" comment
cause I really don't know what you're talking about
srsly
(i come from an unscented household)
I prefer unscented everything: lotion, detergent, soap, and feminine products.
OMG!! thats funnY---what WERE they thinking!? How would find that smell appealing
THAT is hilarious!
I love wearing tampon-scent on my hands and body.
Oh my.
The gals who developed that scent must wear pads or something...
Oh c'mon! I'm the only here who's dream has come true?? ;)
Smelling like a tampon..that's the way to get your man hot for you.
"Only one here"
I guess the smell is getting to me.
You know it's going to be a good post when you see a picture of tampons right out of the gate. Incidentally, this is why I can't drink Sprite. Because it smells like Pine Sol.
The thought of it all just made me sick to my stomach. I would burn it - well maybe not burn it cause can you imagine the smell of burned deoderant tampons? Yuck!
Okay, no orchid fragrance here. That's just kinda gross.
ew. ew. ew.
Thanks for the heads up, no one wants to walk around smelling like a feminine product.
THat reminds me of how bad diaper wipes start to smell about three weeks after you have a baby--yuck by association!
It's wrong. What were they thinking?
And green jello smells like Pine Sol too.
It's actually called the dry-down, but let's not split hairs; Gross is gross.
Yeah, that smell always reminds me of 7th grade...wonder why...
:~D
SO funny!
When I was pregnant, there was this one lotion I wore all the time. But I like to mix things up, and stopped wearing it about the time I gave birth.
Years later I put that same scent on again and felt totally nauseous - like pregnant nauseous.
There goes that scent. I'll never be able to wear it again!
It's so funny how certain smells are associated with certain things--ALWAYS HAVE BEEN, ALWAYS WILL BE.
Ya know... I've always wondered why they give feminine hygiene products a smell. I bought some pads one time that had a sort of lemon-ish/citrus-y kind of odor. It was strong and icky and I think I stuck the rest of the package in my "storage" hoping that I will NEVER have to use them ever again.
That's just as aggravating at the commercial that tells you to "have a happy period". WHAT?
Pyeewwwwweeeeeee. I do know that smell, and I avoid it like the plague.
You know what else stinks? Oil of Olay. I forgot to buy the unscented this time and now I'm stuck with stinky moisturizer. :(
The smell that makes me sick is cucumber melon. I wore it when I was pregnant and now it reminds me of morning sickness. Blech!
(Maybe it's the meds I am taking but) This is all I have to say about this:
what the what?
THAT. IS BAD.
I think I just fell more in love with you because you said "ixnay on the orchiday." :)
Crap. I think I have a bottle of lotion or soap with that 'scent' somewhere in my linen closet. Maybe I'll give it as a gift. (He, he)
Ok. I found a tube of lotion and put a small amount on my hand. My hand did not smell like tampons. But maybe that's because I use Tampax rather than Playtex; and I go for the unscented feminine products.....
LOL - that is funny! I figured I was in a very small group of women wanting scent free. I hate that other scent they put in them. Now I have to go through the shelf with all the unopened bottles of bath and body works and be sure I don't have that particular "fragrance". Would it be ugly to donate that to Goodwill? hmmmmm . . .
I hate the smell of ANY scented tampons! UGH! It really ticks me off if I buy them by mistake when I intended to buy the unscented ones!
Ha ha! This is so true! I've had the same thought as I chose the unscented ones, because we all recognize that distinctive aroma too easily! Now I'm gonna go read some more of your posts.....
Eew.
That's why I use the Instead cup. It rocks.
I'd like to request a new post, please. I don't have an RSS feed set up at work, so I keep checking your blog by hand. And I work in an office of all men. I do wonder what they wonder if every time they look at my screen they see a box of feminine hygiene. . . :)
Oh! LOL! My husband is like, what are you laughing at so hard?!?
I wish I could come up with something remotely clever and funny to say - to return the favor of giving me my favorite laugh of the day.
But I can't. Giggling too hard.
seriously, so gross!
